Gallery colors threads: How about some Creams and Off Whites ?

Is anyone up for starting and/or contributing to a "Creams and Off Whites" colors thread? We don't have one there.

I would start one but don't have any to contribute, that's mainly what I'm looking for at the moment, lol. Thought it would be nice to have a cohesive collection of creams and off whites to browse.

I'm in a pickle and desperate. (And might end up posting about it.) Meantime I'm browsing our Gallery "colors" threads for color inspiration. (Might bump up a few, they've dropped back several pages.)

Thank you for anyone willing to share their pics in a color thread there.

I'd like to see suggestions also. I like warm whites without grey or blue undertones, and tend to gravitate toward neutral to yellow undertones. I've found paint colors vary greatly depending on directional and regional light conditions.

Previously, I've used BM Bone and BM Linen White. Love Farrow & Ball Pointing and have used it for trim; I'd like to find a less expensive product though I must say FB seems to provide such excellent coverage that you use less. Donald Kaufmann's whites are gorgeous, but I don't remember the # I used. I've used SW Dover White for trim and found it nice but a bit yellow; I've recently used SW Westinghouse White on trim and it seems clearer and brighter than usual for SW. Currently, I'm using Pittsburgh Paint for walls in a custom blend; the painters like the coverage better than BM but I had to tweak the PP palette.

I am in the process of changing my red dining/living room to white. If I ever get it done (doing the painting myself), I will happily add to the thread!

diane thanks for finding those for dublinbay. I tried to find them last night but at the top of the main page they put a note up saying some of the pages were missing. I went through almost every page, the dates of the message's and when they were posted were out of order, I do not know how diane found those. You will just love this rose I have had no problems with mildew(at least in my area, it is so dry here). The blooms in the picture that are in the vase, they opended up too 6+ inches wide. I am very happy with this rose. I would post more pics but I just pruned my roses so, in a few months I can post more. I look forward to your pictures too! Carrie

Thanks again for all of your compliments! It really is nice to hear! The kitchen is holding up very well. I think a lot of it has to do with the beautiful finish on the cabinets. The cabinet maker "baked" on the paint, I believe. Whatever he did, "it's like butter!" So, when I see a spot, I can easily wipe it off. I love having all six stools, and would recommend getting as many as you can around your island. Everyone hangs out in the kitchen. The rugs are dash and albert and I do like them. However, even with a rug pad, they move around some. It's not a big deal, but be aware of that if you are considering buying them. Also, mine look pretty dirty right now. My understanding is that I can take them outside and hose/scrub them down and they will be as good as new. I haven't done that yet, but plan to very soon. I'm keeping my fingers crossed! Update on our door paint-- after priming in gray and using satin paint over, we've decided to go back with semigloss. The satin was fine for the doors at the entry, where there is a lot of natural light, but we have a hallway with five doors opening on it and the satin paint just sucks all the light out of the area. So on Monday we are reprinting these seven doors in semi gloss, then will go after the other twelve doors on this level. I am hoping it won't present a problem with the high gloss trim, but as Roseanne Rosannadanna used to say, "it's always something."

Difference between 'cream' and 'off white'?

It's all boils down to interpretation, I guess, but I've always viewed off white as having more gray or brown (leaning almost to tan) undertones, while cream is just that, not a stark white, but the color of dairy cream. ;) Off white being a bit deeper that cream. I snagged these off the web. All have true white in them for comparison. I'd consider the ones below "off white" (note the depth compared to the white in the wall): I'd consider these a cream (lighting in photo isn't the best, but note the depth compared to the white trim, it's very subtle, but the cabs are just a bit deeper and warmer than the trim in the room): Then there's something I'd consider that falls in between the two. These are maple cabs that have glaze and speckle applied per manufacturer site. I'd consider them 'antiqued', usually done with cream paint, and the darker glaze clings to nooks and crannies to give an aged effect. So it's deeper than a cream but not as deep as off white, and not solid color because of the effect the glaze brings into it. You can use the white ceiling for comparison to a true white.
