How about a 'picture of your house' thread?

The lovely photo of Rose's house in the 'Rosemaryt - House Question' thread made me think... there's just been a nice thread where people posted pictures of their kitchens. How about one showing the outside of your house?

This is our house when we bought it during the summer of 2008. It was built somewhere in that 1900 timeframe. Since this photo was taken, we've painted the foundation dark green. The plan is to make the wood steps and railings (on this side which is the back door and also around at the front door) with dark green treads, and trim in the dark green, a lighter green, and a touch of burgandy. We would also like to pain the trim in these colors. Eventually, when we replace the roof it will be metal, probably dark green as well. We've also done a lot of gardening since the time this photo was taken so the yard looks a lot different.

The most recent pic I have. Taken Xmas 2008 I think. The house was built in 1935.

Alameda, Chris could easily be a climber here (and what a wonderful one he'd be), and I just know my trellis isn't big enough. I haven't had the heart to hit up DH again to do a bigger support. The bamboo was difficult for him to deal with. It will take some sweet talking, I am sure. Weeds? It looks good now but I have tons of warm-weather weeds. That awful onion stuff that has underground runners. I use a weeder tool on them in early spring and summer. Once the roses and daylilies grow up big, I can barely fit in there to weed and they start winning out. I am not compulsive enough to do it every day. I need to. Kathy

@grapefruit1_ar Hah - you say you don't want to move from your primary home alive, I've told the mister we are dying in our current house because there's no way I will move to another in our lifetimes. I was the one who did the packing of boxes and all the other tedious but obligatory stuff in preparation for moving from our previous home - he only had to go see houses and take a ton of pictures of the ones visited, my parents helped out with the realtor-given property tours for because they already lived in Nebraska where we moved to. My mom ended up taking 'supplemental' photos because the mister was getting a little frustrated at the fact that I didn't think the ones he'd taken were sufficient nor showing all possible angles/views. :P My mom is a prolific photo taker, and she's super detailed (like I am) about things so really I should have just asked her to take all the photos while she and my dad were doing the home tours with the mister. I'd have gone out to Nebraska myself, but I had to stay and properly wrap up things with my legal practice, not to mention pack/be on site for showings/get the place ready including letting in various professionals to clean the chimney-replace sink hardware-add more lighting fixtures-etc...We decided to go ahead on moving in May 2017, put the house on the market in June 2017, had the place sold and escrow closed at the end of July 2017. My old car was sold and the title handed to the new owner a few days into August and the mister and I stayed at a nearby hotel with the dog until our flight out of LAX on August 5th. His work vehicle was already at our new house, but once we dropped our luggage off we went over to the dealership to pick up my new car - the transaction was done primarily online so it was super easy and convenient. The mister got a job offer out here right before I did, but his was on a shorter timeline before he'd have to give his now-boss an answer about whether or not he wanted to accept the position. Renting a place here at the same time as looking for a home to buy would eat up a lot of funds we really wanted to keep in the home purchase category of the budget. I also needed to put aside enough for taxes on the townhouse in SoCal that we sold (and other taxes related to both of the property transactions).

Joann_Fla mentioned liking the pictures with snow. While cozy isn't my first thought when I look at our snow piles, I thought I'd add a snowy one anyway. Here's how snow looks on the Keweenaw peninsula in January :-)

Here is a picture of our house early this summer, before most of the hosta grew out front. Our porch faces mostly North, so it is nice and cool all summer.

Thanks soxxxx. It's called clinker brick. I call it big blobs of lava rock. It's not really lava but looks like it. I think it's exploded bricks. The previous owner was proud to point out all the fossils in the fireplace rocks.

My little house - I don't know how 9 of us lived in this house with 2 bedrooms and 1 bath but we did.

Picture was accidentely taken last winter from my brother's van. Recycling boxes shouldn't be on the porch but a neighbour must have brought them up from the curb.

Love the big old smelting pots that I use for flower pots on either side of the door. 8 of them used to line my Grandfather's driveway.

We live in an 80's California track home. Bought it new in 1981 (nearly 30 years yikes!). This photo was taken a few years ago. It's comfortable but not a large home. No snow shots, it's Southern CA after all.

Would LOVE to live in some of the homes posted here. They are so beautiful and warm looking. I love homes in woodsy areas.

Cherryfizz - You had 9 people in that little home? I bet it was filled with a lot of love and a lot of fun! Are all the kids gone now? It must seem big now!! :) I wish I would've had more kids to fill up my house!

You've all seen these before. I haven't added any new ones to it...have been house sitting for 6 weeks and have a new computer with no pictures on it yet. This is the old house we bought and moved to our place. We don't live on Scanlon Road, but the house came off of the Scanlon Ranch, so the house mover named it Scanlon Road House. It was the ranch foreman's house. We need to paint it and so a few more things outside, as well as fence it and landscape...and, of course, finish the inside.

I have enjoyed this thread. We have a ranch which was built in Lubbock by a company that built homes and then delivered them. My parents looked at some of those homes in the late 50's, but they didn't purchase one. This one was built in 1965 and moved one other time before it ended up here. We have lived here 20 years. It is very much a work in progress. It used to be ugly, but the new windows, doors and roof made a huge difference. We need to do some landscaping, and replace the sidewalk and step.

Mush, When I saw your first picture of your home I thought oh my that's the house where I grew up. I showed it my granddaughter and she gasped and said isn't that Grt Grandma Rose's house. I said it sure looks like it doesn't it. then I realized mom never put lights around her door. Her house was the same tudor style colors and all. I've looked at it several times and there are differences but it still reminds me of my childhood home. Our house was and is in Cincinnati, Ohio. It is a beautiful home. Mary

Patti-I always wanted to buy and restore and old barn.I have lived in a few houses over the years that reminded me of a barn but not near as nice as yours! LOL

lilliepad, I wish I had quarters in the back. All I have is a detached garage. Oh, and a scary cellar.

That's my neighbor's garage in the picture. The lots are deep enough he built a small rent house in his back yard.

I am enjoying everyone's houses too. I especially love the snow pictures, Mush your house belongs on a Christmas Card !
Our house started out a broken down shack, with nothing in it, and like some of you, its still a work in progress and a bit different to say the least. The "cabin" is in the front, which has my kitchen and a bath, the living room and master bedroom/bath is not attached to the cabin, it sits behind it. Hard to explain, but it works for us.
I envy all of you that have such beautiful trees, grass and snow, and love to see your pictures !

Enjoyed all the houses...and Lavon, I like the idea of the kitchen separate from the rest of the house.

I especially like Kacee's house. There is one very similar to it, near here. I like it because you can see from the front through to the back...was wondering if Kacee's house is like that too. That was one of the things I wanted, had we built a new house....although I am told it is bad for feng shui because the good energy passes right out through the house....but that wasn't a major concern. ;)
