What New Plants Have you Bought this Season?
Comments (12)I haven't bought too many this month but I went nuts in Feb and March. 14 new ones in Feb alone. But as far as April and May goes, I've been getting really into cacti and a few succulents. Rhipsalidopsis gaertneri (Easter Cactus) - From Wal-Mart in pretty bad condition, and it wasn't even marked down, but I felt so bad for it that I bought it anyways. It now looks great and won't stop growing! Not that I want it to stop. Dahlia (Stargazer) - Just a seed I planted...one of the few that actually has survived. Agave of some sort - Still haven't been able to get an ID on this one. Frustrating, but I'll forgive it 'cause it's a neat looking plant. Echinocereus enneacanthus - I call it my Killer Cactus. Hehe. Stetsonia coryne (Toothpick Cactus) - This one's a killer cactus too, but the name was taken by above cactus. Hildewinteria aureispina (Golden Rat Tail) - I saw a larger version of this plant that I really liked, but I love to buy small and watch them grow really big by my hand so I found just a little one. Aloe striata (Coral Aloe) - Everyone pray for me. I have no luck with aloes, but I thought it was so neat I had to have it, and like Crotons I thought that if I tried enough times I'd get the hang of them. Codiaeum variegatum (Mammy) - I was telling myself no more plants for a while, but this one was half price at Superstore. What can I say...the addiction kicked in. And citosa, I'm totally jealous of you. I want an Adenium obesum so bad. I looked on Ebay for some seeds and I found a ton, but I just don't trust anyone over the internet....See MoreWhat Have You Ordered for Fall Planting?
Comments (33)Hi amberdim. Thanks for asking! My peonies from last year's order are doing great! All the peonies that I ordered from Mr. Entsminger are showing buds except for Lorelei which right now is too small to tell. The ones that I ordered from Gilbert Wild are doing well too. Right now, Nova is showing 2 buds. The tree peonies that I got from Ebay are also growing nicely but I do not expect to have any blooms from them this year or the next because they are very small grafted plants. I am really happy with Mr. Entsminger plants. He sent large blooming size roots. However, this year his offering is very limited. I guess he must have sold out a lot of his stock last year. I will post photos of flowers of all these new plants when they bloom....See MoreHave you had prescription lenses put in fashion sunglasses?
Comments (12)I am very nearsighted and my everyday lenses are rolled and polished so they aren't so thick inside the frame. They can't do that with sunglass lenses, so the lenses are very thick. I didn't know that when I ordered them, and got a larger frame, so they are somewhat heavy. I don't notice it when I'm wearing them driving, or sitting outside, but if try to wear them on a run or fast walk, they fall down. Something to think about if you have bad eyesight....See MoreMisc fall fashion questions
Comments (49)Okay, so here is a pretty bad mock-up of Outfit 1. I am wearing it to an event this weekend. Black velvet blazer, black tuxedo stripe pants (which are darker than they appear here), heels, "Hyacinth Blue" cami, and a black patent St John clutch. I have another purse that picks up the blue but it is a small cross body and I think it looks teen-ish? So, my question is in re OUTFIT 2. I am going to a bnai mitzvah and I want to repeat the outfit, except the v-neck on Outfit 1 is abit too sexy on. I want something that won't show cleavage - or very little - but can go day into night at a rather fancy affair. Here are some choices to replace the blue top above. 1. Pale pink --- i look good in this color, it is "in", and I have not one but 2 purses in this shade (which is not necessarily a spring color because it has sort of brown/mauve tones). 2. Champagne --- flattering, classic, would look great w my Tahitian pearl choker 3. Goldish knit w fringe --- Knit tops like this tend to flatter me, and the color is good for blondes. 4.Electric Blue w black piping - reminds me of a shirt I had in the early 90s! The piping will look nice, but I don't wear such strong colors anymore 5. Floral - I think this is so pretty, but not sure it would flatter, it seems loose. I like it a lot in a mock-up because it make the outfit almost monochromatic VOTE?...See Moremtnrdredux_gw
