Anyone using Fitbit pedometers?
Comments (3)I'm currently using the Flex (wristband style) and agree with you that in can be inaccurate at times. I've found that it makes a big difference wearing it on my off-hand (i'm right-handed so when I write, i think it was counting those as steps-- now i wear it on my left wrist). i haven't tried the clip yet, but am curious to see it's accuracy compared to the flex....See MoreTell me about Fitbit, pls
Comments (13)Olliesmom, The fitbit one is very simple and doesn't require any set up. I think the fuel band, like the fitbit, will show you the info (steps, stairs, calories burned) right on the gizmo but to get the most data you do need to sync it to a smartphone or computer. With either device you can just put it on and go but why pay for the technology if you're not interested in that part? The Fuelband is $149 and the fitbit one is $100. There is a simpler fitbit for about $60, it takes a watch battery and does not record sleep. You might be content with just a basic pedometer. I used to have a digiwalker basic unit that only ran about $25. After a few years the clip would break and I'd end up replacing the clip and battery. They offer many different devices with various price points. Maybe those are more what you have in mind. I did find my basic, steps only device motivating for many years. Even paying for replacement batteries and clips, it was a lot less money than the fitbit. But I do get a kick out of my graphs and weekly email reports with my fitbit....See MoreJuly Healthy Check-in
Comments (23)I'm kind of late to the party this month. Was on vacation at our lake place over the 4th of July and busy with guests. Lots of cooking and eating and not quite as much exercise as usual though I did get out for three one hour kayak trips. I ended up gaining a few pounds and had to go into serious weight reduction mode this week. Dropped back to my preferred weight thankfully. Today I did my 35 minute yoga routine and went for a 45 minute walk - both very enjoyable. At the end of June I passed the one year mark for my latest bout with cancer and all is well. I've had two different very rare sarcomas. Last one was in 1982 and then this endometrial stromal sarcoma last year. It's one of the kinds of cancer you can have when you think you have fibroids but it's really a malignant tumor instead. What is a bit alarming is the increasing amount of laparoscopic and robotic surgeries where the uterus/fibroids are morcellated/cut into pieces to remove through the small laparoscopic incisions. Unfortunately this procedure spreads the cancer cells all over the pelvis and abdomen and makes for a worse prognosis. Fortunately I didn't have that kind of surgery but a word to the wise: if you have any kind of tumor that your doctor can't guarantee with 100% certainty is benign, do NOT have it cut up and removed in pieces. Okay, end of my public service announcement....See MoreFitbit
Comments (7)Lana: I think walking is good for osteoporosis... Matti: Yes, the Fitbit is sized to where you can wear it on your bra and never feel it...also the car doesn't trigger it to count as steps when you are driving...I was afraid that might happen because it does with some pedometers. Moni: Yea, it was a little pricey, but I got it anyway....I'm worth it :o) Pam: "I" thought two and a half miles was pretty good for someone my age, but they recommend 10,000 steps each day and I think that equates to about five miles...I'm not going to worry about it, though...I'm not going to do five miles...See More- 8 years agolast modified: 8 years agoSuzieque thanked Rita / Bring Back Sophie 4 Real
