Operation: Get Healthy: an update.

Well, its been about a week since I decided to get back in the low carb wagon, and get more active. So far, its been....okay. I have not been off work any nights since i made that decision. So far, I have managed to get over 10000 steps every day on my fitbit. The last 2 days i have gotten 15000+. At midnight, when my fitbit resets, I go outside and walk around my building until i get 10000 steps. Its a small building. One lap is 108 steps. It takes between 80-90 minutes. I do have to stop from time to time to attend to work business, but so far i have been able to get it done. It sounds like a long time, but i listen to Christmas music while i am walking, and 90 minutes is only like, 30 Christmas songs, which is NOTHING!!!! Also, a few times a woman who works in another department in the building across the street from me saw me walking and came to join me. She walked with me for about 30 or 40 minutes and that helped it go by quickly. The only hazard is the little feral cats that hang around. They see me and think...FOOD! So they do follow me or try to get underfoot because they think i am out there to feed them. There are 5 tiny kittens out there too. (I call them "my little dumplins") They hate me.

Food wise, I am getting used to PLANNING again. I only have stuff at work that i can eat. The trouble is quantities. I always struggle at the beginning of low carbing with portions. But i am getting better.

I tend to keep, jif to go cups, preportioned cheese, Atkins shakes, cucumbers and ranch, and sugar free jello at work in case i get the munchies. In the freezer, I have some meatballs and some tyson grilled chicken nuggets, as well some frozen Atkins meals. Today i bought some individually vacuum sealed chicken breasts and some frozen veggies to keep in the freezer at work in case i want a stir fry or something.

I did not tell SO that i was going low carb again. He knows that i have been walking every day. The reason i didn't tell him is when i do go low carb, he tends to say things like "one wont hurt you." or "I don't like to see you deprived of things." If i make him a roll to go with his dinner, he will break it in half and put half on my plate. I don't get it. He wants me to lose weight too.

Today, he brought home a cheeseburger, fries and chicken fingers from a small local restaurant for me. Given that he doesn't know I am cutting carbs, I thought it was a very nice gesture. He knows I have been working a lot, and i normally have to sort out what we will BOTH be eating every day. (Well, I don't HAVE to, but if i don't shove it in front of him, he likely wont eat at all. I worry about how little he eats. He is underweight, and while he likes my cooking, he generally doesn't really care about food) I took the bun off the burger and ate just the patty and toppings with the fries. He got one order for us to split so it was about only about 10 fries. I brought the chicken tenders to work. I guess that was my cheat meal this week.

I am proud of the fact that i have not bought any eggnog. Any other year, i would have gone through a tanker truck of it by now......
