Who saw that surprising ending on Jeopardy?

I sat down to watch my daily dose of Jeopardy and what a surprising ending. I was feeling a little sorry for the returning champion on what a tough day he was having. Everyone missed the Final Jeopardy and the returning champion bet everything but a dollar. The other two players were tied at $12,300 (I think) and the both bet it all and lost. So the returning champion, remains the returning champion and won $1.00 today.

Yes, we saw that but we were talking and hadn't really been paying attention until that moment. Still mourning Austin. :)

Good planning on his part. Never bet all your money unless you're positive you know the answer. Austin was good and a hard act to follow.

Hahaha. The other thing Dave said that I thought was a bit odd was when he said his then-future wife had contacted him a while after they'd first met and asked him if he remembered having taken a photo with her, and he said something like, "and the *only* time I've ever lied to her..." Then he elaborated and said that he'd taken "like 200 photos that night." Yeah, right. If it had been the only time he'd lied to her, he would have simply said something like, "and I said that of course I remembered her" without mentioning how many other people wanted photos with him. I, too, like it better when all three contestants are in it until the end.

I think I would do badly as a contestant, because I would probably be incompetent getting my buzzer to ring in fast enough, lol! Typically I do well with categories about Literature, Medicine, Geography, Movies/t.v. shows, and North American and European History (not knowledgeable enough about history of most other Continents.) Music and sports depend greatly on the era, regarding my knowledge level. I do okay at the 'Before and After' categories, but I'm downright horrible at categories connected to Mythology, Opera, Religion, Art History and Science Fiction. But oddly enough, even if I do pretty badly during the general game, I seem to have a weird knack of getting the Final Jeopardy response correct, which accomplishes nothing, if one doesn't accumulate enough money beforehand, to win the game!

I watched the Today show on NBC for years. I always liked Katie Couric, but I remember being less than impressed when Savannah, who was NBC's top legal analyst, was named co-host. So I guess I understand why some might not react well to her on Jeopardy. But I grew to like her a lot. I think she's a really nice person, and an excellent interviewer. And I agree with Eld--no way is she interested in becoming the permanent Jeopardy host. Did anyone notice the pitch Mayim made for the job on her last day? At the end of the show she said her role as host was a great fit with her experience as both an actor and a neuroscientist.

I'm fine with Mike Richards. Before Alex Trebek began hosting Jeopardy! he had hosted several other game shows, like High Rollers, Classic Concentration, and To Tell the Truth. Mike's resume isn't much different. Me! I went into it hoping they'd all bet a lot and only he'd know. I was kinda sad when he didn't. I mean it was a water question and he is a Naval dude. So I was doubly happy when he didn't bet it all.

I loved it. Everyone was surprised. If one of the other players had left even $2 on the table, she would’ve won. I did not know the answer to the question. It was a good, competitive game.

Austin will be back during the Tournament of Champions later but not sure when that is held(?).

On the following night, he only had to wager $2000 but he wagered $17,000. H e would have remained champion. I think he thought if he wagered $2,000 and lost, he would still have $17,000 and he wrote down $17,000 instead of $2,000.

I should have asked earlier, but does anyone remember what the Final Jeopardy question (clue) was? I missed Tuesday's show, and also missed This is Us. :-(
