Please help pick a grout color ASAP!!! Bill V and everyone else!
Comments (8)Bill thanks, I am going to try to put pictures after he tiles. If you think there is another company that you like better please let me know, as I am going to Philadelphia Saturday to my sons, there are many tile places there. It's funny the samples I have home that they thought matched the best are straw from the one tile place and mushroom from the other. They both seem to blend or a little drker than the tile. Do you know of these 2 which comes out lighter when up. I want to stay lighter if I can.. Those paper samples are so deceiving. Thanks so much for your help....See MoreHelp.. ASAP! Comments (10)It is very difficult for us to choose a grout color because everyone's monitor reads color slightly differently. Plus if you took the photo in one light it would look one way and if you took it in another light it would look a different way. The best suggestion is to look at it in all different lights noting each time of day which you prefer....See MoreNeed help after grouting tile...Grout color covered white tile...
Comments (27)Yvette Im sorry your upset, It does look lighter in todays photos to me. You have very poor photo quality and in truth you are comparing a Showroom floor with white marble or glass contrast relfecting and a complete different lighting schematic to your tub alcove. There is some solice in lighting. This is repeated on these forums time and again. Stone itself comes in dye lots and VERIES drastically. Stone wicks moisture, from thinset substrate and grout as it cures it gets darker before it lightens. Some thinsets can take 30 days to fully cure, some portland grouts do normalize over 7-10+ days. and there is a dozen things that can go wrong with hand mixed and installed grout. I cannot see close enough the details of your install but I can tell you I have had to watch sales people at tile shops like a hawk in that they are usually not a person to take advise from. Can you be 100% certain they sold you the proper color/brand or did they sell you something similar to sell you something. ? You should have more recourse if you Payed a tile professional to source and purchase the materials themselves grout included and if you have a contract and stayed hands off. One thing homeonwers dont consider when they get involved with these things is the importance of putting all the liability in the contractors hands to afford recourse. People that do the shopping finding deals choosing materials, and then hiring labor have little to no recourse so i hope thats not you.. I suggest further patience and see how it lightens, play with lighting and start to focus on other aspects of your room.....See MorePLEASE!!! TILE HELP -- need asap!
Comments (16)I always love a small, classic hex tile. It is beautiful, timeless, and can look contemporary depending on the color. I think it looks great in a narrow space too. I agree with your contractor that herringbone is too busy for that narrow of a space. You room may be 4 feet but it looks like with the counter depth, the floor space will be narrower than 4. This summer we stayed in a vacation rental that had a beautiful, subtle, marble basket weave tile in the bathroom and it just looked all kinds of wrong because it was too busy for the small space. I think the same with herringbone in your space. We did our narrow bath in hex tiles and it looks fabulous. We always get comments on it. I would pick up some samples and give it a try. It is also often easy to find in stock....See MoreFilipe Custom Woodwork
