Help Please! Need Tile And Cabinet Advice ASAP!
Comments (8)A lot of the problems presented here are not the end of the world, but that doesn't mean that you're crazy for wanting things done the right way. I consider tile to be more or less permanent and a vanity to be more like a piece of furniture (even if it's screwed to the walls). My inlaws were looking to do a cosmetic/fixture update of their powder room and were looking to replace just the vanity/sink/faucet and toilet but leave the tile floors as is. It was an odd shaped vanity and installed before the tile was. They ended up putting off the project because they couldn't do what they wanted to without ripping out the tile and they didn't want to go there yet. Now I'm not saying that my inlaws are not unusual ;) but I don't see this as an impossible scenario. Of course I'm also very picky. I want things to be done the way I want them to be done, and I want them done right. I don't really care if a contractor has "always done it that way" or if he thinks something is no big deal. In his house he gets to decide what is a big deal and what isn't. In my house I get to make that decision....See MorePlease help me choose grout color ASAP!!!
Comments (6)I'm sorry i'm can't help you. But, I would love to see photos of your cabinets as well as your backsplash when it's done. I plan to paint my cabinets a greyish/sage (most likely) with white tile and I was wondering the same thing. White or gray grout? I'm leading towards gray. Somewhere around here someone has a picture posted of white subway tile with (pewter? i think) grout. It looked great! If you could post pics I'd love it! Hoping to buy my paint and tiles next week! :) Lisa...See Morebacksplash help grout question asap
Comments (7)Positano thanks for responding. I only had to wait a couple of weeks for my whole tile order, it was in stock. The brand of grout is it Mapei? where do I get it? I have to have all my ducks in a row for the guys installing because they don't speak English too great and I don't want any miscommunication. Also, do I use that same grout with the feature tiles over the stovetop which are the Walker Zanger Morroccan? The sample below looks really white but, the field tile is white I love herringbone patterns. That was one of my top choices. I really wanted it all over but you had to buy so much more tile to do that & I thought DH was going to do the BS so I was scared to do anything too complicated. The Moroccan is on paper mesh sheets. I would love to see yours when it is done too. Pics below: Here is the WZ Ashbury in the blue but, I think mine is like the crackle shadow. No pictures I can find anywhere. The pattern is what I will have with the border pieces in blue and a line in creamy. The border pieces are called Creamy Crackle Warren Liner & Vibe Blue Shadow Rail Molding. I have a much smaller area than the sample photos but, you get the idea. Here is the Moroccan in another color....See MoreNeed help after grouting tile...Grout color covered white tile...
Comments (27)Yvette Im sorry your upset, It does look lighter in todays photos to me. You have very poor photo quality and in truth you are comparing a Showroom floor with white marble or glass contrast relfecting and a complete different lighting schematic to your tub alcove. There is some solice in lighting. This is repeated on these forums time and again. Stone itself comes in dye lots and VERIES drastically. Stone wicks moisture, from thinset substrate and grout as it cures it gets darker before it lightens. Some thinsets can take 30 days to fully cure, some portland grouts do normalize over 7-10+ days. and there is a dozen things that can go wrong with hand mixed and installed grout. I cannot see close enough the details of your install but I can tell you I have had to watch sales people at tile shops like a hawk in that they are usually not a person to take advise from. Can you be 100% certain they sold you the proper color/brand or did they sell you something similar to sell you something. ? You should have more recourse if you Payed a tile professional to source and purchase the materials themselves grout included and if you have a contract and stayed hands off. One thing homeonwers dont consider when they get involved with these things is the importance of putting all the liability in the contractors hands to afford recourse. People that do the shopping finding deals choosing materials, and then hiring labor have little to no recourse so i hope thats not you.. I suggest further patience and see how it lightens, play with lighting and start to focus on other aspects of your room.....See Moreromy718
