The Nana Thread - April 2011
Comments (38)Ivy is pretty independent and eager to try anything! She does think Skyler is pretty neat though and enjoys rough play with him. He spins her around in a swing in the basement until she gets sick. She concentrates on things more than Skyler. For example, she loves to play at the piano. Skyler also enjoys playing "potty mouth". He thinks it's the greatest thing to try to get Ivy to say "fox" or "frog" or "fork". He laughs like anything at her. The thing is, he laughs more because of what she could be saying than what she actually is saying. She does get the R pronounced in there mostly and she's got the G sound as well just recently. But then she tries to pronounce it wrong because of all the attention he gives her for it. OY, big brothers! Pen Pals! Great Idea! They could send pictures to each other too!...See MoreShow us your gardens - a photo thread - April 2013
Comments (49)Dee: I leave them out all winter. Granted, we don't usually get large amounts of snow here - just lots of ice since we hover around the rain/snow line. These rubber treads are not at all slick. The pattern is like a web with holes in it for the ice to settle in. I'll occasionally lift them to shake off the ice, although sometimes the ice is too thick to to move them. I tend not to use those granite steps when it's too icy anyway; I have an alternate route down the bluestone paver path (which has different problems). I have to shovel these anyway to feed the birds so I don't always bother to shovel the path away from the granite steps. The rubber treads are best on my wooden porch steps which are partly sheltered and essential for my getting out and in. Claire...See MoreWhat's Blloming in Your Garden - A Photo Thread - April 2014
Comments (53)Nearing the end of April the garden is still slow to wake up, but it's a joy to see what does sprout. It's still mid-season daffodil and scilla time: N. 'Lemon Glow' and Scilla siberica 'Spring Beauty' down by the road. And there's one daffodil flower that I don't think I've ever seen before and I haven't found anything online that looks like it. It doesn't match my records of daffodils I've bought. This is the only budding stalk in the clump. It's in a spot next to a peony where a daffodil certainly belongs. I may have found some bulbs while excavating somewhere else and just moved them there, assuming they were one of my regular daffodils. Does anybody recognize this? Comments (18)Ok, I just couldn't stand not posting today. Tho actually its 10 min after midnight, so I'm a wee bit late. LOL. Since I haven't been able to unpack and take pix of my Dollar store dish finds from late last week, I decided to share this tiny purchase with you. I won the bone dishes on eBay I was bidding on. No one else bid thank goodness, got the set of six for $10. Plus darn shipping! I chose this set to bid on because it's from the 1920s and I love OLD stuff. And am hoping the milk-glass will go with various settings. Karen...See MoreRita / Bring Back Sophie 4 Real
