Small bedroom, King bed advice
Comments (7)Well, you could downsize to a queen bed. I had a queen bed all those years I was single and I wasn't sure that it would work just to slip DH into the bed I was used to having all to myself. But it works fine. Are you using all the vertical storage in your closets? Get some of those cube units from Target for shoes and bags so you can go all the way to the top of the closet. or even cut into the wall above the closet to put a second set of doors up there for access. Also -- and I know this isn't easy to do -- it's probably time to go through your stuff and pare down. DH and I have found over our seven years together that a lot of the "stuff" we were holding on to just wasn't really that important to us. It helps that we are in the South so don't have HEAVY winter clothes (complete different wardrobe) to deal with. Is fashion extremely important to you? If not, then maybe it's time to pare down to a small group of quality bags and shoes rather than the big collection you have now. Also, I'll bet there are some you never wear/use, but hold onto them because you remember them fondly when you DID wear/use them. If buying new fashion items is important to you, consider getting into the consignment world. Consignment stores typically don't take things more than a few seasons old, so it would help you keep your things fresher. it will also help fund the "habit." DH and I found that we both had tons of T-shirts we never wore because they were from some event. But we never wore them! He also had a lot of sweaters that looked like they came straight from the Cosby Show. Just because they were nice and expensive in 1990 doesn't mean you should hold onto them indefinitely. I read somewhere that the trick to paring down is to do it in stages. Pack up the items you haven't worn/used in 6 months or a year. Move them in boxes to the garage/attic/basement. After 6 months or a year in the box, it is time to let them go -- you clearly don't need them anymore....See MoreSmall bedroom design TINY BOX of a bedroom
Comments (45)mammapinky Yes, they are. I did that on purpose. I wanted a different illusion than just the mirrors hanging, if that makes sense. I want the mirrors and curtains anchoring the bed, like a headboard. Thank you! To everyone mentioning the mirror height, don't tell my husband! (lol) He absolutely hates hanging curtains, shelves, mirrors and paintings. haha I'll have to wait to the weekend or a day we both have the time and we shall raise them. I'll have to ease him into it. ;) Should they go the same height as the curtains? Thing is, raising them any higher and the bottom of the mirrors show, which is not the effect I was going for. :/ chickadee2_gw Wow, thank you so much! :) I truly find this sight inspiring. I really appreciate all of the help you all have to offer! :) And now I can finally move on to the kitchen! rebeccamomof123 That really made me smile. :) I am so thrilled with how it all turned out and it is so nice having people to share it with, who understand. :) Thank you so much!...See MoreSmall master bedroom advice please
Comments (9)I agree with Aunt above. I would do a drawers bachelors chest/night stand height on one side of bed and a slimmer drawered chest on the other. This way you can do away with the dresser under window and do a small bench. Hang the curtains close to the ceiling to give the room height. The TV height is too high, don't go past the entry door height and go a bit smaller. Do wall mount plug in lighting with swing arms. This way if the side of bed chests are different heights it won't matter. Put a nice painting on bed wall. lol word of day is height....See MoreSmall Girl Bedroom With No Closet- Floor Plan and Decor Advice Please!
Comments (53)Those Pax wardrobes are fabulous storage options. I'd go with white, for sure. The Pax didn't work in our bedroom but I think it's partly because they were at the entrance of the room. Surrounding the window as you have it in your layout would work heaps better. They look great in Lyfia's pics. I'm also short and feel claustrophobic with tall furniture so that's my bias....See Morel pinkmountain
