Are you happy with Thermador or Sub-Zero Ice and Water Dispenser?
Comments (5)I haven't had it that long to speak for reliability, but yes, I'm happy with Thermador external dispenser. Its really useful for the kids getting their own ice and water and they drink much more water as a result. I have a 5 year warranty through my appliance store, if it breaks after that I'll deal with that when it happens I guess. The only issue I see is for Thermador is the dispenser is in the freezer and your size limits would require either 2 x 24" units or 30" fridge and 18" freezer. The 18" freezer is really small (esp with the dispenser taking up space) and 24" is kind of tight for the fridge....See MoreSub zero or thermador fridge?
Comments (36)I am happy with it. And I think that I do see it keeping food fresh a bit longer now. Be prepared for less depth, but that's not a huge problem for us. We have a small full depth fridge in the basement if we really need to fit that huge pan or pizza box. Makes lots of good tasting ice. Freezer storage is adequate, but I do use the freezer in the secondary fridge, too and so it's perfect for us. It feels really well made especially compared to some of the new fridges my friends and family have recently purchased. If you can feel enjoyment when using an appliance, I think I do with this one lol. All in all I'd buy it again. Good luck....See MoreThermador vs SubZero/Wolf appliances?
Comments (48)"In regards to the screenshot you put to kalapointers post, she states she's been dealing with repairs for 7 years, but the M Series ovens were only released 4 years years ago. So not sure whats up " Kalapointer's post answers M111675's question, "Do you think it's still a problem on the Wolf M Professional convection oven? I understand it may be easier to fix, but does the problem still occur? " In Kalapointer's oven saga, it was at some point replaced with an M which they report here has chipped. "Well, I have waited since February 8th to have my M Pro double oven repaired. The enamel on the bottom of the oven was chipping and crazing." " Should an oven be able to handle self-cleaning mode, yes. But I can tell you from my experience many people have problems with their units after they've run self-cleaning mode (and this is across the board for modern brands), likely due to all the new microchips and electronics we use in modern ovens these days." Whether it is electronics or the blue enamel, if it doesn't work, don't promote it as a benefit and take it off until you get something that does work. "Coincidentally enough, I've never had a customer that experienced this chipping issue on Wolf ovens and I do sell quite a few. So I've not seen how it might arise yet the the real world. Doesn't mean it hasn't happened to these customers." No one knows how many have this problem except Wolf. From this forum, we know it has been ongoing for 10 years and some posters have had as many as 3 go bad not to mention one of the lawsuits mentioned a multiplicity of failures for one family. They were also talked into spending more money with Wolf to upgrade with the idea it would not occur and it still chipped. That has happened on this forum too. I feel if Wolf was sincere and it was truly a rare occurrence, they would upgrade the appliance at no additional cost for the inconvenience it causes and in at least one case someone cut their hand on the shards. It is also not just a cosmetic issue as they try to say. Rita" Seriously, who cares what color the interior of an oven is? " This^^^^^^^...See MoreSub Zero or save $5k with Thermador
Comments (11)We were early adopters of Thermador fully integrated columns around 12 years ago. Still happy with the choice. They perform well, with separate compressors, good cooling, and solid ergonomics. Back then, SZ did not offer a fully integrated option, so the choice was pretty simple. Only issue we've had is with the icemaker--it's been replaced twice. Some of that is inherent to any mechanical icemaker, but it's worth a mention. FWIW, the 17 year old SZ we have at the lake has a lousy icemaker--ice freezes up at the top of the bucket, preventing it from dropping down on the auger, and requiring me to pull the bucket out and either discard the (freezer burned) ice, or at least bash it to get it to fall down. We have a Scotsman ice maker, which mitigates the problem. In the end, it's an imponderable: take the chance on the Therms, which I believe provide comparable performance, or pay a lot more for the perceived greater reliability of the SZ (which I think is in part urban legend rather than proven statistical analysis)....See Morechispa
