We have a home!
So after getting screwed by the jerk at topchoicerv we knew it was a blessing in disguise because we would never want to work with people like that. Turns out he totally lied to us and sold it to someone famous called GraveDigger that has monster trucks, he went for the fame. It is all over their Facebook page showing the rv we were going to buy. If I had Facebook I would be making some comments about how proud they must be for screwing over a flood victim that is homeless.
But thankful for the little miracles that happen because today we visited a wonderful family owned lot that refurbs pre owned coaches. And we fell in love. It was love at first sight. It's a Monoco Diplomat 41 ft motorhome. Everything that looks like wood really is wood no plastic. It has a washer and dryer and built in vacuum cleaner. Air number bed. 2 leather couches that makes beds. The dinette chairs are being replaced with euro recliners so we have more usable seating. I will post a few pictures. We are happy. It won't be ready for about 10 days. They live there and offered us to come stay there in the motorhome over night so we can get the tour of everything on it. And take it for a drive. The lady told me about seeing the rv we were trying to buy on that Facebook page! She also said I should be very grateful I walked away. These people were very nice and friendly. I can't wait to get it in our driveway. So here it is here's FREEDOM!

Comments (2)Staining pine is really tricky. Even different boards from the same tree will look different sometimes. Another problem with pine is it often looks very blotchy when stained. Pretreatment is usually necessary. You can buy pretreatment, or use a one pound cut of shellac as the pretreatment. If you try and do this job yourself, you need to understand you are in for a bit of an adventure. First, you need several pieces of scrap, preferrably from the job just done. Use the stain you mentioned. Then add a coat of oil based varnish. Let that dry(24 hours) and add another coat. If that matches---the color will get more amber and darker with each application---you have the solution. If not, try a coat of orange shellac over the stain. Shellac is produced in several dark colors. You can order any of those colors online. The stuff will come in dried flakes, which you can dissolve in denatured alcohol(specific amounts are necessary for the different intended uses). You may need to experiment for a while before you get close. Jusat remember, every application of an oil based finish adds color. Every application of shellac(even blond/clear) adds color. Comments (19)No centipedes, but gack! Silverfish! Never saw one before moving in here, but was getting a number running around on the bathroom floor in the night. Party! I was diligent killing everyone I could and after about 1 1/2 years, didn't see anymore. Until about 3 weeks ago! I had just been congratulating myself that it was great that they were gone and the next day a fat one ran out and back under the hot water baseboard. And I've seen and killed one nearly every night since. Sorry - didn't mean to hijack but house critters are so disturbing. But I'll try to do a little something something :D Even if it's just saying hello with some ultra nutty pecan bars :D I'm hoping to buy some bar stools for the kitchen asap... ones that will go under the island as temp eating. We are also going to be getting one of those 6 or 8ft tables from costco with folding chairs for the mean time, if that's what we eat on for Thanksgiving, so be it. It will give us the "Remeber 35 years ago, our first thanksgiving in a new home and we ate on folding chairs and paper plates?" -- well we have plates. hehe.
