Over the past year or two that I've been more active on this side, I have seen so many acts of kindness and support from all of you towards other GW-ers. This is an incredible community that seems to take the most pleasure in helping others.

Yet you sneaky gals (especially you, Miss Mtn ringleader) still managed to surprise me. I arrived home today to find a huge box on my front porch. Inside are the most beautifully wrapped gifts, with wrapping paper that was obviously chosen with care. One of the presents is wrapped in a vintage style map of Italy that made me instantly think of my wonderful trip to Venice with my fiancé last spring. Another present is wrapped in vibrant flowers that echo the peonies and roses that are my favorites.. And because we are a decorating website, the one wrapped in plain brown paper aesthetically pulls it all together. Of course it does. Did I mention the beautiful peonies on top? And the card with birds on it? You all really do know me.

You all are wonderful. You have helped me in so many supportive ways as I get ready to begin a new chapter. I don't say it enough, but your consideration and abundance of caring have meant the world to me. (not to mention all the invaluable advice ranging from dress, to make up, to hair. Be prepared though, these next two weeks will have me in full panic – ask a million questions – mode. I'm going to need some major handholding. :0

I am so overwhelmed! I don't know how you all did this, but I can't tell you how happy you've made me.

This picture absolutely doesn't do the gifts justice, so let me paint a better one with words. First of all, the cheeseboard is an artisanal work of art. It is slate with natural edges and if you look closely, you will see my new monogram ( T) surrounded by a beautiful and nuanced set of antlers.

It is gorgeous and my fiancé and I love cheese. Many of our dinners on the nights he comes up to see me from Philly, are comprised of wine, cheese and olives. It is one of the ways we relax, catch up, and enjoy our time together. This board will become an integral part of our favorite routine even when we're no longer commuting to see each other.

The cheese serving knives are as beautiful as they are functional. They are made in France and who knows how to serve and pair cheese better than the French? Funny, I registered for the exact same set… MTN, we may half to have a talk--you are a formidable sleuth!

Asfor the book, " the art of the cheese plate" it's now time for me to admit that despite how much I love cheese, my repertoire is sorely limited. And the book is from Rizzoli publishers. You know they know food. It's humbling to see how little I know while thumbing through the beautiful pictures. I am inspired to expand my palate!

While I did not make the traditional bridal hat with the ribbon and wrapping paper, I did find an appropriate use for them. I want to thank you all from the bottom of my heart. You really are wonderful!

I totally hope you are joking, Jojoco... because I'd have had the package opened even before I opened GW to post the photo (although, I might have pretended that I hadn't!!)

While I can't speak for everyone, I will say that my vote is to OPEN IT NOW!

Of course we'd have love to have gathered with you to drink champagne and make a hat from all the bows and ribbons.. but since we cannot, I think you should pour a glass of wine or champagne and rip that paper open!

Yes...open it! So glad you were surprised. Ok, I want to know how Mtn pulled off getting your name and address without your suspecting anything.

Theresa, I am sorry for your loss; I lost my Mom Feb. 25, 2009. She had been sick for about a year, we expected it, but it doesn't make it any easier to accept that this is forever. I wanted to share a little with you about how I deal with missing my Mom. I went out and bought a journal with her favorite colored paper (purple), and I took her perfume (White Diamonds) and misted the pages a little with it. I take a few minutes each day and write to her about the days events, or how much I missed her, or problems that have came up that only she could have helped me with, or just a happy memory of something we shared, and although I know she is not going to give me the answers I am looking for, sometimes I can see things much clearer when I finish writing. Sometimes, days later, when I go back and read I find myself laughing that I was stressing over "that" whatever "that" might have been. The point I am getting at is the purple paper and her perfume bring me close to her memory and I find myself looking forward to those few minutes I spend remembering the good times, instead of dreading the time the feeling of loneliness is going to set in. For several years, the Home where my sister, Annie, lives has an open house on the Saturday before Labor Day. They have an antique car display. They also have a bake sale where all the workers there bring in their homemade items. A guy that has a van set up with jukeboxes plays 50s/60s tunes. They have a lot of door prizes. This year they had a country western band play for about 2 hours. They bring in a 'chuck wagon' that serves barbecued pork sandwiches, hot dogs, coneys, sloppy joes, macaroni and potato salad, baked beans. They also have a chili cookoff in the morning, then you can share in any/all of the entries. Drinks were regular iced tea or sweet tea, lemonade and coffee. This is all topped off with homemade ice cream. Even with the heat so bad here today, there was still a big crowd. Annie even enjoyed seeing some of the cars/trucks. Shirley

Hi all went out on the weekend to do some weeding - I actually have weeds!!!!! anyway, found this tunnel in the lawn (yes green lawn)and followed it to my Abraham Darby and the rotter ate all the roots to my lovely hugh rose all I have left is a very healthy looking top with nothing underneath - no doubt in the next few days it would have died leaving me wondering what happened. I buried whar was left deep and pruned and planted those so fingers crossed. Time for the rat bait boxes to go out - will need to look at the other roses - anyone heard of this before????

I am just delighted that it was such a surprise for you... I love the last image that really shows the artisanship of the engraving on the slate.

And isn't Mtn the best sleuth?? She remembers EVERYTHING and brings it all together to make a most special package.. right down to the wrapping and card.

Jo, I am thrilled to pieces you were surprised by the lovely gifts. Mtn is indeed our Sleuth Supreme and Detail Diva! Oh goodness, we kinda knew what was being planned for the gift, but really it's wonderful to see everything and hear how pleased you are with it all.

I'm sure the next couple of weeks will fly by and the wedding will be perfect!

I am sorry to have missed this opportunity to share in the gift. I have been very scattered lately. Mtn, is our champion though. From idea to execution her thoughtfulness and caring is heart-warming.
