Can painted drywall withstand a splash of water accident?

Hello,

I am hoping that someone will know the answer to this. My bathroom wall had about 40 oz of water sprayed on it (do-it-yourself toilet error). The water wet the paint, collected on the floor and was mopped up. And I beat myself up very nicely for letting that happen.

I hear horror stories of drywall getting wet and moldy and losing integrity. I have not found one yet which was not as a result of a hidden leak or a flood or many gallons of water from a source above the apartment (broken water heater).

Mine was a splash, the source is known and is gone, and I used a fan to dry the wall.

Splash vs. Flood vs. Leak.

My question is, would anyone recommend any further action? I don't even know who I'd call because this was not a typical "disaster." However, I don't want a surprise, mold, weakened wall, or anything else that would be nasty.

Yes I am neurotic. But... better be safe than sorry.

Thank you in advance to anyone who reads this.
