Who pays to fix drywall gouges from wood floor install?

My unfinished oak floor was laid throughout the main part of the house, including the kitchen, last week. It's so exciting to see something other than car decking and subfloor under foot.

They finished on Friday when we were out of town, and I did a close inspection this weekend. I found many gashes in the drywall and many areas where the drywall was bumped in but not torn. Most of this will be covered by my 3 1/4" base trim or tile around the fireplace. Several spots will not be covered.

My drywall guy who has many years of experience says it's not usual for that type of damage to be above the trim line. I have a call into the hardwood company to chat about this. I'm assuming that I have to eat the cost of repairs, but thought I'd ask about the experiences of others.
