Need help for back splash (pics)
Comments (8)Thank you rookie_2010 and dianalo. I like light color and simple pattern. I really like the island granite( it has busy veins) and want it to be the focal point. I tried 1x2 close to island color glass tiles and it looked a little boring. 4x4s set diagonally may create interesting look. I will try it. Or with two very close shade of island colors in 2x6 or 3x6 tiles?...See MoreNeed help selecting kitchen back splash
Comments (7)You are going to get people's individual tastes and ideas, which might not be what you like. I went through hours of photos and narrowed it down to half a dozen looks that caught my eye. I then searched for the manufacturer of those tiles and which local tile stores carried them. I went to see them in person and ruled out a few of them right away, as the photos made them look warmer than they were in real life. As soon as my kitchen is at the same stage as yours, I will go and borrow the tile sample boards from 3 different tile stores. Look at them in my space and make a decision. Your question is very open ended, so you are just going to get a wide range of tastes and ideas. Maybe if you had some sample tiles in your kitchen people can be a bit more specific in their feedback....See MoreDoes 12 by 24 back splash a good way to go
Comments (14)Below your kitchen with two of the tiles. Obviously the dark and light tiles will be randomly spaced. They probably will look darker in real life too. Personally both those choices look bland to me and I think your space is desperate for contrast of some type -dark/light, matt/gloss and of cours COLOR/greys. if your builder is only offering these, i'd respectfully decline, ask for a discount and pick my own tile in good time. I'd live in the new space for a bit. A BS is not required right away for a kitchen to be functional. And tile and install for BSs are not that expensive....See MoreHelp ID this Granite name and new back splash ideas??
Comments (9)@designinteriorsouth We are planning on moving in the next few years i was looking to update the kitchen We looked at changing the granite and painting cabinets but with the way it is installed with cabinets directly on top of full slabs in areas not shown in the above pics entire cabinets would need to be rebuilt taking just granite removal and replacement cost upwards of $7-10k plus painting @$7kplus, plus hardware plus sink change etc etc Just not worth it PLUS the cabinets are good and most pp say keep them as is - just clean and retouch stain. As to trim - the trim upstairs is painted but downstairs it isnt. The The problem is the house was built in 1937 and all trim was originally painted. At some point the paint was removed and is now wood is yellowish greenish orangeish and the window sashes are pine and sills and surrounding trim birch, while cabinets, floor and crown moulding are oak, door mouldings are birch. The window trim is in rough shape . Here are additional pics: Window sill, sash and trim oppodite side from sink cabinet on granite end of kitchen...See Moreioannita
