GE profile double oven gas range vs. GE cafe double oven range
Comments (5)I went with the Profile double-oven gas: here are my reasons. I like the smaller-size top oven for daily use, and the lower oven will only be used on occasion, so I'm ok with its location. (There's no room for a wall oven in my tiny kitchen -- and I have no plans to tear out cabinets and rearrange.) I'm a good cook, and I honed my skills on low-end domestic ranges because that's what was available: I don't need a commercial range to cook what I like, and I'm too busy with other aspects of my life to change my cooking style now. I also prefer not to deal with "pro" level BTUS and the ventilation complications they might add. I also am not willing to give up self-cleaning ovens -- which puts many pro-style ranges out of contention. I liked the slide-in setup and the angled control-knob location on the Profile, so that, and the price advantage, led me to choose it over the Cafe. Re: price, I bought mine from a local dealer, and I got the price down a bit by asking them to meet the ajmadison.com price. They didn't quite get there, but I was willing to pay a little extra for local sales/delivery/service reliability. Everyone's situation is a little different, but I found that the Profile slide-in fits best with my kitchen and the way I use it....See MoreShould I buy Wolf oven from ebay? URGENT!!
Comments (2)I have purchased from ebay many times, but not a Wolf oven. So my feedback is kinda generic to buying on ebay. Make sure you check the seller's feedback, before anything else, and investigate the comments for any negatives. Also make sure you know their return policy. Some people will not allow returns - period, some do but charge you high "re-stocking" fees. Virtually no one will pay the return shipping, or eat the shipping cost. Be sure that what you're saving in price isn't eaten up in shipping. If this is an item that would come with accessories (pans, probes, etc.) make sure they are specified as included - can't make any assumptions. Sometimes if a seller is not an authorized vendor of a brand, then the warranty will not be honored by the manufacturer, even if it is valid (not yet expired, issue not excluded, etc.)...See MoreShould I buy Viking 36" gas rangetop and 30" wall oven???
Comments (2)NO! Run,dont walk, away from Viking oven. Lab nerds at CR are really cluless when it comes to cooking equipment. They judge an oven by how well it bakes store purchased chocolate chip cookie dough. Ovens 1)Gaggenau 2)Wolf L Series 3)Electrolux,choose the interface you like the most. Highlights to Gagg oven. Side opening door so you don't need to reach over a hot oven door or pull out racks. Air Catylyzer that vaporizes grease before exiting air into kitchen which helps keep kitchen clean and fresh smelling. Fussy pastry chef heat evenness. 36" Gas Rangetop 1)Capital Culinarian 2)Bluestar RNB True commercial type open burners not semi-open burners like Viking.Power burners are 22-23k btu for residential portions not 30-36k btu burners like on commercial ranges. Even and efficient burners that direct heat directly to the bottom of the pan not to the side and up like on sealed burner and semi-open burners. Comments (55)Gardengal: I'll admit my words included a bit of exaggeration, but monopoly is as monopoly does. Is Amazon there yet: do they want to crush their competitors (bad), or just keep doing better than the competition (good)? So far personally I think they are mostly on the "good" side, but things change so I'm not guaranteeing my support forever. Angela & others: A company can outsource execution of something (a component of a product, or delivery to customer's door) but that doesn't absolve them of responsibility for keeping their word. When I one-click, I expect the product to show up as Amazon promised -- correct product, good shape, on time. If it doesn't, I'm mad. What I like about Amazon is they DO take responsibility by offering refunds, etc if something went wrong in the delivery chain, all the way to me. I'm aware of efforts they are trying to deal with porch pirates -- lock boxes, that weird service where they get to enter your home -- but personally I haven't needed that yet. So overall I'm still a fan. Ten, 20 years from now? Who knows....See Moreul03560
