Advice needed: Choosing most efficient ceiling fan
Comments (5)Thanks. Perhaps it's a typo in the advertising and the airflow efficiency is 84, but I will follow up with the company to double check. If that's the case, however, is fan V still more efficient? Also, if it helps, fan A has a "premium power 188x25 mm torque-induction motor," and fan V has a "premium power 165x25 mm dc motor."...See MoreCeiling fan size advice needed
Comments (5)If you already have a 52" and it doesn't seem too large for the room, I would definitely go with the larger fan, especially if you live in where summers are hot. The 52" (according to the Minka site) moves about 400 cubic feet more per minute than the 44" at its highest speed, yet costs slightly less to operate. If the 52" is also less expensive to purchase, it seems like a no-brainer. I wouldn't worry about it moving too much air -- you can always run it at a lower setting. I agree with justgotabme that the room size guidelines are intended to make sure that you have a fan large enough to be effective, rather than to be aesthetically pleasing. Obviously, a very large fan, especially one that hangs low, could overwhelm a small room, but there's a lot more leeway than the sellers represent. Sellers like to make decisions as clearcut as possible so buyers don't get hung up on making a decision and end up not buying anything. P.S. I read somewhere that 52" is the most popular fan size by far....See MoreNeed quiet powerful roof mount ceiling exhaust fan. Advice?
Comments (4)40s & 50s attic fans resembled a modern ceiling fan but were belt driven. Similar fans are still used in livestock barns, construction sites and commercial warehouses. They are whisper quit if mounted so that viberation isn't transferred to structural framing....See MoreCeiling Fan advice for an Open Concept space
Comments (14)Wherever you put the fans I suggest setting the blades to pull cooler air up and distribute it to the walls where it will drop down. Forcing warmer air down is appropriate if the room is so warm that direct air movement on your skin is needed for comfort or the ceiling is very high....See MoreBluebell66
