If you have beige windows on inside, would love to see pics, pls!
Comments (10)Here's our exterior & the corresponding interior photos of our window/door combination using beige/tan windows-- FWIW, similar to you, I thought it would bother me, but it really doesn't. Having all the grids match in color certainly helps. Do note that if you're having transoms over the doors/windows that they are sized different as you can see in my photo--both are 12" transoms by the manufacturer specs, but you can see the obvious difference. The transom window height differential does still bother me & is one of the things I would gladly pay to change--but that's another story. Hope this helps!...See MoreAllison0704, Can you post more pics of your beautiful home?
Comments (21)Oh shoot, TXgal! I forgot - I'm writing it down so when it gets lighter outside I can look. So sorry! :-/ Thank you, Amy. Jennifer, that was the only semi-arguement we had during construction. DH wanted them, I didn't. We actually had the cans in (4 in each the GR and MBR) but even the electrician agreed they would not only ruin the look of the room, but with the roof pitch, the light would not be thrown directly to the floor (even using cans meant for sloped ceilings - the pitch was different). He removed them before the drywall was started. In both the GR and MBR we have four metal sconces that throw light up/down. We use them and two lamps in the GR at night when it's just us. If we have company and want a brighter room, there are two more lamps and the great room receives light from the DR/Foyer/Kitchen. You can see one of the sconces lit in picture #7 and two unlit in #16. I just noticed your moniker. I'm sorry you hate building - we thoroughly enjoyed the experience and I was just recently trying (just a tad) to talk DH into building again! We've been the only house on our street for two years and two new houses have just started construction. We do have 4.5acres so it's not like our old neighborhood but we were used to the seclusion....See MoreCan you all post pics of what to do with
Comments (12)You can buy chalkboard paint, paint a piece of plywood to fit in the empty pane and have a kitchen message center. I got some free wallpaper samples from American Blinds and put different wallpaper pictures of chickens in each pane, then used chicken wire instead of glass. You can also nail some "feet" on it and use it as a fireplace screen - just don't leave it in front of a very hot fire. Have also seen window frames with no glass used as pot or herb drying racks, hanging over a kitchen island. (I mean "Pot" as in "pots and pans")....See MorePlease post pics of your frameless cabinets
Comments (35)We were lucky to find good cabinet makers to work with, and we're also fortunate to have 9 foot ceilings to reach up to. Makes the 'small' by modern standards 10x15 foot kitchen feel a lot larger. Because we don't have any really long runs of cabinets, the frameless construction is less impactful, and frankly having framed inset doors would have probably looked too busy in this small space. The thick 1.5" gables on the sides of the fridge and dishwasher are nice touches as well and help frame in the frameless doors....See MoreChessie
