We have a design dilemma! Our house is white siding and we are having all of the trim and shudders painted dark gray (previously brown). We are painting our porch bright white from top to bottom (previously horizontal natural cedar planks). Then, our front door is inside of our porch. We wanted to do a fun color on the screen door, but then don't know whether we should have the front door match that, be white to match the patio walls, match our exterior trim, or be something like a darker natural wood color.

Does anyone have tips? Things you have done that worked - or didnt? Is there a standard rule of thumb for this kind of thing, or is it just what we personally prefer aesthetically?

Any advice or insights you have would be appreciated!
