How many windows do you have in your bedroom?
Comments (29)One large window on the east - three casement sections, two open. This is the side of the house with the nice view. No windows that open in the adjacent bathroom though we have transom windows above the vanity and one in the walk in closet. No airflow but nice for the natural light. At our other house we have four double hung windows and a door. Two are on the west side (lakeside of that house) and the single door to the deck is in the middle. The other two windows are on the north side. The adjacent master bath has three double hung windows - one on the north and two on the east. You do really have to carefully think through furniture placement if you have a lot of windows and doorways....See MoreGuest Bedroom Window Treatment Suggestions
Comments (13)atillery9, your bedroom is one of my favorites here, and I do like the look of curtains. I haven't been a fan of curtains for my own house because (1) I have trouble committing to color/pattern in anything expensive (I don't mind plain white but would likely do that only in summer), (2) we have allergies and I feel like I'd have to work extra hard to keep them allergen-free, and (3) we have five cats. While we don't allow cats in this particular room and usually keep the door closed, I can't help but feel cat hair and dander could still collect there. I like a roller shade if used with curtains. I like their functionality and room darkening ability. We have a higher end shade shop here where I have bought roller shades in the past I was very happy with, so I could go that route, too, if we were to decide to get curtains....See MoreBedroom Window Treatment Advice for Window Next to Wall
Comments (5)There's no other way to arrange the furniture? If you post a floor plan (hand drawn is ok) showing measurements of furniture, walls, window width and doors, maybe there is another solution. But if you don't want to do that, I'd just get some nice looking shades of your choice (bamboo or roman) and not worry at all about covering them with draperies. Depending on the size of your window, you might have to outside mount (better for light control, I think), because to inside mount might require a custom size....See MoreSofa advice for the bay window area in the master bedroom please
