Does the low voltage lighting I want even exist?
Comments (1)Low voltage lighting has come so far and become so popular that you can find fixtures to do everything except bark like a dog. You're not going to find the better stuff sitting on the shelf at Home Depot, though. Your best bet, if you're looking to DIY the install, is to contact local electrical and lighting suppliers to see who carries low voltage lighting (stone yards and nurseries occasionally stock these as well). If you're looking to have the system installed for you, reach out to a landscape lighting contractor....See MoreDoes the laptop I want exist?
Comments (7)Mine is an Acer Aspire/R7-571/R7-572. I tried to pull it up on Acer's site and Best Buy where I bought it but can't find it. It shows up on the top...on the site I posted, but only for a minute or two with no info, just shown folding it. I can't seem to pull it up on their site so maybe they have a new model now. It has an Acer converter port (?), an HDMI port, usb port with off charging, usb port, headphone speaker jack, on the left side. On the other side an SD reader, another usb port, DC-in jack and kensinton lock slot. It also has another one that looks like the reader port, but doesn't open. Sorry I don't know the terminology, it doesn't list hard drive. Maybe memory?? The external CD drive I bought, does not do movies, I would have buy something costing $79 and I haven't done that yet. On the site I posted click on accessories and there is a photo of it with an ad for a sleeve. Comments (5)I can't help with the original question, but I can -- somewhat -- with the "which" farmhouse sink question. Mine is a 30" Shaws, single bowl, undermount, drain about 1/3 of the way over, and it holds 2 days' worth of dishes...not that I ever let dishes pile up that badly :) I only looked at this and the Kohler, and fell in love with the Shaws. It has much chunkier sides than Kohler's, which I prefer (JMO). The two were comparably priced, about $800 each. I strongly recommend buying the Shaw's in person because each one is handcrafted (installation is a PITA), there are irregularities, and I rejected one when I went to pick it up; you don't want to be shipping a 130 lb box back at your expense if you don't like the one shipped to you. I suppose you could have a good cabinet installer build a false front "cabinet" around the front side, but I like having the big white front. Here's pix (and, of course, there's lots on the FKB): There's enough room for a ISE Evolution Compact disposer and plenty of other junk:...See MoreDoes the coffee table I want exist?
Comments (18)The Latitude Run table is the only new table in the ones shown above that is really a dining table for anyone not sitting on the couch. The couch ones are good for two or three people at best, since they cantilever over to the couch from the center coffee table area and leave all the other chairs with no place to set anything. I love the Kai Kristiansen Elevator Table, and if you can fit it in and afford it, jump on it! That is an heirloom! I looked at a few MCM lift tables online when I was looking for my lift coffee table, and did not see one like that. The ones I saw had scissor-lift legs and would not have been as durable. Nor were they as beautiful! I got a table that had the same idea as this one Sherry Coffee Table at Wayfair for $580. But mine rotates a half turn and opens like a book, which doubles the table size. I can have the table either small or large at any height between 11" and 30" and it really is a breeze to lift and convert. I got mine at ExpandFurniture.com, and they have this 39 x 22 ish Coffee Table that rises from 10" to a Dining Table at 30" and doubles in size. It is small enough to be practical in your space, but provide a real table for dining that all knees can tuck under (unlike the Latitude Run and even Expand Furniture's version of it). It is $799, expands to 39" x 45" (which is still half what I paid for mine, that expands to 59" x 43"). Even if you do decide to stick to tables that make a little tabletop that rises and moves over to the couch, look at what Expand Furniture has. Check into what kind of wood product the different tables you consider are made of. I would not expect a moving mechanism in an MDF or particle board to last. The tiny wiggles with each movement would loosen it sooner or later. Another option for a lift table to bring the table top toward those sitting at the couch is to look at used furniture stores. These tables were popular in the 1990s, but many did not see a lot of use. I see them in my favorite used shop regularly....See MoreLaura M
