Bona traffic hd & moving furniture
Comments (2)So long as you have floor protection underneath the legs (felt pads are often NOT enough for large pieces like sofas = you need an EXTRA layer of protection) you should be able to move furniture at will. Of course EVERY flooring professional will tell you that you need to LIFT the furniture - not drag it. If dragging is unavoidable, then it is recommended that you put cardboard underneath the legs and then move it. This reduces the pounds per square inch (prevents gouging) and eases the force of friction/inertia of the object (makes it easier to move and does NOT polish the floor underneath). The lesson today is: Lift, don't drag. No the felt pads are NOT good enough for large/heavy objects across a finished hardwood floor. Use of a protective surface underneath the legs of the heavy objects is needed to protect your finish. Good luck. Remember to lift with your legs....See MoreAre these leopard spots normal for Bona Traffic HD?
Comments (9)Julia I'm having the same issue and it's not just the grain of the wood. There is something on the wood floor and I am not sure what it is, it's coming off for the most part. I'm using magic eraser, Murphy's and elbow grease, although some of it isn't going to come out unless it's sanded out. My guess is the previous tenants had kids and carpet and I would hate to see what the carpet looked like when it was pulled up....See MoreHelp! Comments (4)I am a DIYer who has used Natural Seal. It does not go down easily, and the installer should have familiarity with it before applying it on a paid job. It has a white pigment to lighten the wood in it that you can't see until it dries so careful application is critical. These are "lap marks," where his roller strokes overlapped with previous strokes, resulting in a double application of the pigmented primer in those places. You have two options: 1) Try to get your money back and find someone who knows how to use this product to do it right 2) Have your installer start over and use Bona Classic Seal. It doesn't have any pigment, so you won't run into this problem. Trade-off is that it won't lighten your floors like the Natural Seal, but it also won't darken them like oil-based poly either....See MoreWhat can I put on top of Bona Traffic HD?
Comments (4)I'd like a slight bit of sheen, and I'd like the color to be less gray/more brown. The Duraseal browns were too red, too yellow or too dark, so the floor person mixed one of the browns with a gray to tone down the red/yellow. It's not bad, but i would've done more brown, less gray. I wonder if a final seal of poly tinted with brown would work. Unfortunately, the floor person insisted that the floors needed to be stained the same day they sanded. I mistakenly assumed that there would be a day to sleep on it and see the stain in different lights and different rooms....See Moreicenet333
