Four years of Picea orientalis 'Professor Langner'
Comments (7)As before I enjoy the photos you post that shows a plant as it matures over a four year period. And it's good to see something green. Been an old fashion zone 4 winter in South Dakota, luckily we have a 8-10 inch blanket of snow cover. Might be a year were those pushing the zone will get caught. I know I have a few I'm worried about....See Morewinter cleanup
Comments (3)Try your local garden center, they may have someone in your area that they can recommend. They know the real landscapers. Be specific on what you want and what it costs. Tell them that you need to be there and review the work when complete. And they will not get paid until you are satified. $30 / hr is not a bad price , however it it were my yard, they would need to come back if they did not have tools. It sounds like you have found the guys with a truck and no business licence (not a true landscaper). Once you establish a price for the completed job (not pay by the hour) who cares if they cut it by hand or use electic shears for the ornamental grass. They get paid the same. Good Luck...See MoreWinter cleanup of leaves in shrubs
Comments (1)Unless there is a reason - insects or disease - I leave all the leaves there and don't bother cleaning them up in spring either - natural mulch.......See MoreLayering Bulbs - My Lessons with Crocus
Comments (2)Heh . I'm thinking about making some clumps here and there or I might just drop them individual. Finding them during late spring if not late fall for me is pretty easy. The leaves on the crocus are super long in spring, so I can literally trace them back to it's orgination. In the same bed, annuals get planted and come late fall, annuals get removed and ornamental kale get's planted. In my always digging around in this area, anywhere where I make a hole to plant something, for sure, I will have at least a few crocus bulbs in my hand as well. I may not get -all- of them, but locating them is not that bad...See Morewoodyoak zone 5 southern Ont., Canada
