The claw foot tub originated here in the USA. Kohler and American Standard are the two companies that started producing them back in the late 1800's. They still make them, but their selection in cast iron has become much smaller. People don't buy cast iron tubs like they used to. Acrylic tubs are cheaper and most people don't know any better. As golddust suggested, you may have better luck finding a used cast iron tub. They are commonly discarded, or even worse smashed with a sledge hammer because they are difficult to remove in one piece. Kohler also has like 5 different company names. Kallista is their high end bathtubs.

Thanks for the reply. That's exactly what I would want if they were only offered in bigger dimensions. I have the space for a bigger tub and 48x48 is just too small. Does anyone else have a suggestion???

We are installing a Jacuzzi brand tub as I write this. A friend suggested it and my family went for it (I'm not convinced). Here are some thoughts I've had: 1. A whirlpool tub is always made of plastic and will scratch, eventually, some day. Cleaning plastic is an art form. Apparently liquid bleach takes out a surprising amount of the grime that gets stuck on it. We'll see. 2. Jacuzzi says that "all" other brands do not drain all the water out of the pipes when you drain the tub, and that causes problems with sanitation. Still Jacuzzi sells a cleaner kit to clean out their pipes. Hmmmm? 3. The pump and heater take up plenty of space in the tub footprint leaving a much smaller-than-you-might-think place for your body and/or feet (if showering) to go. With the space reduced, you might need a bigger tub than you have room for to be comfortable in it.

Don't waste your money on specialty-length tubs from major manufacturers!!! Go to your local cultured marble fabricator and have them quote you for the length that you need. It will cost WAY less than half of what Kohler's Greek or Seaforth tubs will cost. I would do it for resale. The kids' bath should have a tub!
