How to re-surface an old concrete floor?

Hello!

Here's my first post - I wonder if you can help?

I've taken up the old floor tiles in the kitchen, and the floor underneath is concrete, but its' rather old, with the odd crack and not completely level. The finish I want is actually a concrete finish, so the short question is:

"What's the best/easiest/quickest way to resurface an old interior concrete floor?"

I've been researching for quite a while now, and there's lots of views out there, but it's made it quite confusing. Some methods seem to be a bit over the top:

Whereas I wonder if a simpler solution could be to simply re-polish the old floor. Or, possibly just add a levelling component, so it's smooth & flat, and then applying some micro-concrete over the top? Any ideas from you experts will be very gratefully received.

The first company I called said it would cost £7,000 for 5 metres squared!!! Hence why I'm exploring a simpler of even a more DIY option, that still gets the concrete look I want to go for?! Thank you! Marcus

It's just a bit wet in the middle, because I mopped it:
