Comments (65)Sorry to resurrect an old thread, but I just learned about a company that makes a product for staining brick that I thought you might like to know about. The company is called Masonry Cosmetics and you can buy a DIY kit for just $119 that looks like it is enough to do the front of your home. The guy emphasizes it's not a paint, so you're not going to experience any cracking or fading or peeling like you could if you whitewashed or painted the brick. What got my notice is you can lighten the brick, not just darken it! Click on their name for some before and afters. It still looks like brick - not painted brick. All the natural variations in the brick are still there! Also, to answer your question above - if your windows or wooden, they can be painted. Many houses have vinyl windows that cannot be painted - those are typically white or cream....See MoreWhat colors should we paint the exterior of our new home?!
Comments (10)It's a Tudor with a turret. It's always going to be a Tudor with a turret. Do not paint the stone. This below is the whitest color scheme I have seen for a Tudor. I would definitely keep the black windows. They are perfect with your house. I would keep your color current scheme and invest is some complementary landscaping like you see below. Your lot is really lacking & 86 the globe balls lamp post. The property could look much better with landscape lighting....See MoreWhat color(s) should we paint the interior of our new home?
Comments (5)Congratulations on your new home - how exciting! I would not paint the walls grey/blue/green due to the orange/yellow wood. Those colors would look nice in your home but may feel a little old-fashioned to you. In my opinion, grey has been overdone and it's time for something fresher. I would paint both the walls and the wood trim the same soft white to give it a more modern feel. The trim is not very substantial so just paint it out altogether. Bring in color with your furniture or art. When you eventually replace the flooring you can think about changing the trim too. Look at Benjamin Moore OC-117 Simply White, or perhaps OC-118 Snowfall White or OC-149 Decorator's White....See MoreAny ideas on home to remodel our 1930s house new house?
Comments (13)I agree we need a to scale floor plan and you do not convert that garage you actually build a new addition to include that space You need an architect and depending on the rules maybe some permissions too . I have found in the UK many homes are listed even when you can't imagine why. I have never been one for keeping items that do not work with my design aesthetic so if modern is the aim those windows will need to go but you really need an architect to help make this happen and we need that floor plan....See Moreeld6161
