Thanks everyone. I find it's easier to appreciate the late daylilies when there is so little competition. I like them all. Marg and Jean,I think Alexis Sunny Pants just might be my favorite plant in the garden this year. It is such a fabulous performer. Eggplant Electricity has been a favorite for a few years. Mantis--Spacecoast Dragon Prince was new last August, but so far has been very impressive. I've always liked Elegant Finale--a very nice late bloomer. Purple Archittecture is fairly new and is putting on a show. Great branching on this one. Val

Dave, I laid volcanic rock on top of the soil in every pot the other day to make it heavy, as you know we had horrible wind in the past few days in SoCal. I chose volcanic rock because it had a lot of iron substance, I believed, which was the same as soil on Kauai. I'm not so sure that they are pure volcanic rock as it isn't expensive. Karyn, thanks. This cutting didn't show a sign of inflo when it was a cutting. Therefore, I believe, it had time to develop a strong root system and put out inflo later. It seems like I'm lucky with red plumies this year. My Siam Red that I bought from Thailand also bloomed. However, I found out later that we had an uninvited visitor, a DARN DEER, at night. They loves eating rose, plumeria, and hibiscus flowers and etc..... Sadly, Siam Red that bloomed was disappeared over night. Boom

Funny you should mention that, Skybird! The boys were drawing pictures on a couple of them today. That picture was taken a month ago, and all of the green ones have ripened up nicely since then. I really want to use the trellis for a Charentais melon next year, but I am tempted to grow small pie pumpkins. Sigh!!! If only I had more space. I'm seeing more of the peachy color with Lavender eyes lately. Rosalie's Smile is an example. I fear that the lavender would fade out in our heat, but boy, if it didn't I would be happy with it. It's an unusual combination of colors and it appeals to me the more I see it........I like Gaudeamus very much in your picture too. Everything, including the teeth, seems so symmetrical and the color is soft and pink. Too bad it doesn't do so well for you. Many of the fancier ones do seem to struggle more at first..........Maryl
