I don't like when you can't leave reviews on a site and it does sometimes make me keep searching elsewhere because of it. It depends on the site and what it is. I'm not happy with the crib skirt I bought from Pottery Barn. Pottery Barn, of all places, should allow you to do so. The whole point of a ready made skirt was so I didn't have to mess with it. The skirt drop was indeed what they stated but the white middle section was huge and I ended up needing to hem the sides because it looked terrible. In a review I would have listed the specific dimensions of the skirt as well as my crib dimensions. I won't purchase anything large from them (furniture) because no reviews and no store near me.

Boo to no reviews!

In a recent bath remodel I purchased quite a few things from PB because I was working in polished nickel, which is hard to find. I really longed to read reviews, but took a chance. Some of it worked out, but several pieces were just cheap Chinese crap. One bezeled clock was ordered twice, and both clock faces were glued into the bezel crooked. Obviously crooked. Like, how does that get past QC?

On my laptop now, and can see reviews on Ballard. I am behind on running updates on my iPad.

Reviews are important to me, too. I usually ignore the 5-star reviews and look at the critical reviews to see what was wrong with the product. That way, I know if the negative is something that would bother me. I don't mind buying without reviews at PB, Crate & Barrel, Williams-Sonoma and the like because I have stores nearby for returns. However, I would never buy furniture from them without seeing it in person.

The reviews are one of the things I really like about shopping online. I think it's pretty easy to tell the rational, constructive reviews from the irrational ones.

I know that I often prefer Anthropologie for many reasons, one of them being reviews. Very helpful. I write there reviews myself when I feel up to it:) They all got published, whether they contained high praise or harsh critics..except for one, but I must say that I wrote it after being unfairly scolded by my Mom(it was a present for SIL, and there was a mistake which I never encountered before-two shams of different sizes, very nicely packed together so I never opened them), so I clearly wasn't thinking right, and provided too much TMI lol.

I do prefer sites that allow for reviews(like Etsy, or Amazon, or Wayfair, or Urban Outfitters, or Saks, or TripAdvisor..whatever they specialize in)..one learns to read between the lines, and react to the most important things. I agree with 3katz4me..you can see pretty well what reviews are truly helpful.

I never put an itinerary together without scanning a hundred or so reviews, and that's how we usually are very happy with our vacations.
