We had a drop wall table in our kitchen years ago...loved it. We could put it up in the wall when we needed more space and down when we ate or worked on the flat surface. Our table was big enough to seat 3 people comfortably and four if we wanted to get close together.

The logical place to put it would be under the chandelier (after upgrading it severely.) There are charts all over the internet to help determine size and shape for a specific number of people. Google for those and then decide on shape. Tape it on the floor under the chandy with painter's tape to see which one works best in your space. Don't forget you need 38-42" of clearance all around the table for chair scoot and sit space. If you plan for a rug, it should be 38-42" larger than the table yet not run into other furniture. If you entertain larger groups only once or twice a year, you may prefer a drop leaf or extension style table for those occasions.

Great looking house. If I were you, I would try and think about ways of making that space look a little bit more flexible. You should really consider an oval table instead of rectangular. Here's two examples: Number one, Eero Saarinen replica: It's a whopping 78 inches in lenght so if you would add your preferred measurements that would be great so we can give you better advice. Number two, Saarinen-inspired from another store: Should have clarified that Eero Saarinen was a Finnish-American designer from the 60s, in case you don't know. Looks okay to me as is ... but it would look even better with a wider top to that cabinet and with the tv lower and w/o anything between the top and tv. You can keep the cabinet you have and still attain the wider look. Cabinet is too nice to just abandon it. IF you agree with those that suggest you need a slightly wider TV stand, simply add a top to it as deep and wide and in any material and finish you choose. [Think fireplace mantel or wide stair step or wide thresh hold board or countertop.]
