help with fig tree problems
Comments (3)Dare I dig up the root and check things out??? I really hate to cause any more damage. I know this area is subject to cotton root rot, but I saw no outward signs indicating this. I did not see any black fungus at the break either. I'm puzzled. How big of a pot would I need if I chose to pot a fig tree up, plant it (pot and all) in the ground with outside soil, incase it is cotton root rot? Any ideas? These figs have spoiled me, I loved them. I will want more....See MoreHelp - Brown Turkey Fig Tree leaves problems
Comments (1)Looks like some type of insect damage. It doesn't look like you have the tree in full sun, which it needs. It also may be getting pot bound. BT is not a variety I would recommend growing in a pot. It will do much better in the ground...See MoreFig Tree Problems
Comments (7)It definitely needs to stay outside with lots of morning sun. When you water, you need to be sure to saturate every inch of the pot to reach all roots. If you put a cupful of water at a time, then soon all of the other roots not getting the water could die. Depending on how fast the water is running out of the pot and that depends on the soil, you may need to water really well every other day when the temps are in the 90s like they've been. When it is stressed it will drop the leaves but that doesn't mean it's dead or dormant. Plants go dormant when the days get shorter, it's the loss of sun....See MoreFig tree in the garage over winter. Mouse problems?
