Blue Star Oven Cleaning

Hi,
I am considering buying a Blue Star range. I looked at a RNB in a show room. I really liked the oven but had some concerns about cleaning it. I can be a messy cook and often have pots spill over. I noticed that the bottom of the oven was not one solid piece, but had a heavy panel on the bottom. When I removed this panel (by simply lifting it-not held in by screws) I saw the wiring and oven heating element(?) as well as wires and insulation. I am concerned that when I have a spill grease/liquid/gunk will seep to the bottom and will be absorbed by the insulation and get on the wire/mechanics. I do not want a bug or mechanical problem !!
Can any Blue Star owners comment on this? I'd loved to see oven bottom pics of a well used/loved oven! Also does anyone know if the RCS is built this way?

*Updated* I've attached a photo of where the insulation is exposed on the bottom on the oven, after removing the oven bottom panel.

Are you sure this is an RNB? Mine looks nothing like that. On the other hand, my RNB range is a couple of years old (maybe 7 years?), and I know that BlueStar regularly tweaks its designs. So, it's possible they made these adjustments at some point. But if I had to hazard a guess, I'd wonder if maybe this is a Platinum instead? Those ovens are designed very differently.

As you can see, my oven is in regular use, and it has never been cleaned. Honestly, it looks great except for the window in the oven door which probably should see some oven cleaner at some point :-) Fortunately, the door can easily be removed for cleaning.

I have never had any issues with food dripping below the bottom element. On the other hand, I learned early in my cooking "career" that spills can cause oven fires... That's a mistake most people only make once :-)

So, I usually leave a cookie sheet at the very bottom of the oven. It sits right on the floor and catches any drips and spills. Just make sure it doesn't over any of the vent holes for the gas burner.

Thanks for the response! I'm not certain that the one I looked at is the RNB, but believe it was what the sales representative said. I certainly like the design on yours much more, though! The lip around the panel and covered bottom look so much safer.

I've experienced this first hand and it's turned me into a routine oven cleaner- after a life of never cleaning ovens. Now that I'm in the market, ease of cleaning is high on my list!

pretty sure a BluStar 36" cooktop is the right upgrade in a NE rural country cottage. 1) Seems that 6 burners is more practical than grill? (I love havg 5 burners on my not-so-great Thermador drop in unit in Manhattan...and often use 5... but moreover the way it lets you space out larger pots). 2) Wd a BS propane version perfrm as well as natl gas? 3) any suggested vendors for RI or Southeastern Mass (Attleboro) or quiet corner CT (Pomfret/Danielson/ Putnam) PS I read Blue STar 24 thread and a couple of older ones in entirety. and thank you all for generous sharing. PPS may b this isn't the best thread to ask: 4) any one installed the new BS 30" oven??? by way of backgrd: had actually preselected DCS 2 yrs back (this renovation is delayed!!!) b/c of the infrared broiler + convection features. But maybe that is not the best brand...seems that an odd assortment of vendors carry it Am ok with having elect oven (espec for the cleaning cycle) tho' i like gas in general. Not a master baker so dont know if elec v gas is a factor for that. Gas of course lets you broil in the old fashioned way.

How hot does your Blue Star or Aga 6-4 range/oven get?

As I've explained in another thread, I'm buying an Aga 6-4 which has yet to be delivered. As such, I can't tell as yet how hot to the touch this range can get. Just don't be too quickly deterred by the oven sizes as they are deceptively smaller in appearance than they are in actual size. If you are really concerned, bring some of your pots and pans to the store with you for oven size testing. Btw, I decided on the 6-4 when I realized in the midst of my kitchen remodel that I would have to replace my beloved antique stove. Like you, I was in the market not only for a great functional range but also one that would be especially appropriate in looks for my vintage/cottage style kitchen. Once I saw the 6-4 (in claret red) I was totally smitten.

Ammonia is corrosive and has high vapor pressure. It gets into everything. Sure, it'll probably clean things. But it can also cause a lot of damage. I would feel uneasy to leave it exposed for any extended amount of time. A gas oven isn't exactly sealed in any way. Personally, I don't really give a damn what the inside of my oven cavity looks like, as long as it doesn't affect functionality or safety. I usually leave a cookie sheet on the bottom rack to catch any drips. That greatly reduces the need for cleaning. The minimal amount of splatter on the walls really doesn't bother me. Very rarely (every few years), I clean the window with oven cleaner. You can remove the oven door to do this, if you want to do this outdoors. I am sure there are others here, who always try to keep their ovens in sparkling clean condition. And they will hopefully be able to give you advice on how to do that.

I bought my range and hood in 2010 when I bought my current home. At the time, I could afford it, wasn't very handy, and was working a lot, so I wanted performance and reliability (and a specific color 🙄). After the research I did, I decided to go high end. I forgot to mention that I've already fixed another issue on the oven myself -- replacing the ignitor. Wasn't hard, but time consuming and had to figure out how to do it, order part ... TG for YT videos. If I'd had a service take care of it, I'm sure it would have cost hundreds. Yes, it seems there are problems/mistakes with everything these days, HOWEVER, given the amount of money paid for BlueStar products, if they do have a defect, the company should stand behind their expensive product and support the consumer. This was not a wear and tear issue, as you can see if you read the stories in the above links. Also, why did BlueStar acknowledge and correct THEIR problem for a while and then stop, even as recently as within the last month? Indicates an unethical company and makes me wonder how else they've decided to be unethical now. vinmarks, it seems, again, from reading the above threads, that they did correct the hinge/door issue on newer models. I also want to add that I did not use the oven a lot. The other thing to take into consideration with buying high end is how difficult it might be to get a serviceperson to your home for that particular brand.
