Good/Bad Online Retailers for Toto toilets and sinks?
Comments (13)"Does anyone have any experience buying this quantity from an online retailer and is my ~$2,000 possible savings better invested in "insurance" of not having to deal with the delivery and possible return hassles?" I bought my toto ultramax toilet in a custom black color from homeclick 3 yrs. ago. I had NO problems whatsover. And I also SAVED A BUNDLE. I had other delivery problems with a hansgrohe showerhead from them, but the toilet was on time and on schedule. Remember, your manufacturer of choice has a lot to do with delivery from Homeclick. Sometimes, Homeclick can only deliver what the manufacturer will deliver. I came out ahead. When ordering from online, you can only win. However, you must order well ahead of time to be sure that you'll win. In my state, sales tax is 9.5 percent. Online, I don't pay sales tax. Homeclick runs holiday sales that are 10% off. Add that to the sales tax savings for my state, and i get nearly 20% off with free shipping. Since the big box stores charge shipping and delivery, obviously I save with Homeclick....See MorePositive stuff on online retailers
Comments (12)Agreed about the online sales tax. We have roads to drive those delivery trucks over because of taxes that support a common infrastructure. Someone's got to pay for that stuff and it winds up being defenseless, voiceless children in absent monies (i.e., shorted education budgets -- I couldn't understand what I was talking about here either!) if we're all not careful. Also, another downer-voice to add here is to be sure to check carefully about the warrantees from some of these places. There's no regulation, I guess, for these online sites so consequently they can really just say whatever they'd like. For example that they're an "authorized dealer". But if you call, say, Franke, or Whirlpool - just pulling those names out of a hat - point is if you call the actual manufacturer and ask, say, "is homeclick an authorized dealer" you should be prepared to receive quite the talking-to. For some manufacturers, having bought the product from a non-authorized dealer won't really make much difference in the event of a failure; they'll still honor a warrantee. Others are cracking down and saying no authorized-rep, no service. And sometimes they're not really very nice about it either -- which is a little bizaree since it's actually really quite difficult, as a consumer, to know who's authorized to sell what (not to mention why). Nevertheless -- it's something to think about and investigate if you can stand to. And doing so requires more skepticism than I for one am even comfrotable with. That is, when I see a sign that says "authorized dealer", I am inclined to believe it, even to the point of arguing with the actual manufacturer ("but it says..."). So from there, YMMV. After starting to wake up to what a big bad world it sometimes actually is out there, and in weighing all the political pros/cons of brick-mortar vs free-market arguments and the like, I have been immensely happy doing online business with ABT in Chicago -- they price-match, are in fact authorized reps, with salesmen from a "real" brick-mortar" store who will talk endlessly and patiently with you and ... they will go to bat for you warrantee-wise. I will forever be grateful to them for just handling several problems with a Miele oven. Those guys are totally amazing. Chicagoans on this site have piped in that they are in person too. I'm glad you've had good experiences with homeclick but until you've had a problem you'd like to be supported on, it's hard to know how they've performed. It's like saying "yeah, my car insurance is *great* - I've never had a claim!" -- which is terrific but doesn't qualify you to comment on the insurer's capacity to, um, insure you....See More2015 Seeds & Plants on Sale, Locally? Online Catalog Sales?
Comments (49)Hi defrost…another early bird. :-) I'm adding to my houseplant collection this winter, which is pretty depleted. Some winters, I just have no interest, but this year I do, probably because this summer my garden time was minimal. Right now, I have some succulents that need repotting and I'm looking for decorative, ceramic probably. I'm going to try to find some shallow pots in a small to medium size for now. I have larger ceramic pots, but they seem like the wrong shape and size. By the way, if anyone knows who sells the best houseplants, besides Logee's in CT, because I haven't got time to take a trip there. I usually end up at Russell's and I stay away from Mahoney's, so I'm looking for somewhere new to try....See MoreHeirloom fruit tree online retailers
Comments (2)Legg Creek Farm is a Texas online company that has older varieties of peaches. They have low priced trees, free shipping for Texas orders, but require a $100 order. I ordered from them this year and they had good looking trees. Womack Nursery is another Texas company that has alot of trees. The good thing about ordering from a Texas company is that they should not be in transit as long. The Legg Creek nursery order shipped on Friday and got to me on Saturday. The less time on the truck the lower the death loss, at least in theory. Just Fruits and Exotics in Florida has some older varieties of apples but are kind of pricey, but good reviews....See Morealbert_135 39.17°N 119.76°W 4695ft.
