cat_mom - Yes! It's been amazing. This is the first whole room remodel I've ever done, and it just feels...good. :P fori - Thank you! I tried to pick a "manly" lavender, so that it would be fairly unisex. I think I succeeded, it is somewhat muted so that helps it be more grey-ish lavender. minal - I wish I could say that we did it ourselves, but no, we had a contractor do the tile, glass door, and the plumbing. They did a great job and did everything the way I would have, with no weird grout lines or tile sizes. I'm very pleased, and they were affordable, too! My husband and I tackled the electrical including the new fan (attics suck), and also the vanity knobs and accessory hardware. treasuretheday - Thanks, and the accessory likes the new bathroom too! She's always loved bathtubs and showers, and she just goes in there and hangs out randomly now. :)

Speed Queen, Speed Queen, Speed Queen!!! A Speed Queen has everything that you are asking for, and nothing that you don't need. I've had my model AWN542 since May '12 and I am in love with this washing machine. It is built like a tank, actually uses WATER to get my clothes clean, doesn't have a bunch of electronic crap to break, and washes load after load after load beautifully. In all the time I've had it, it has never had an unbalanced load, even when washing throw rugs or blankets. The 542 model has gentle and delicate cycles and an extra rinse cycle as well. A 3-year warranty is standard. It is more expensive than most top loaders (mine was $830 OTD), but it is a very well made and simple machine and I don't see myself replacing it for a long, long time. After seeing what else was out there, I didn't blink at paying the extra money for the Speed Queen. I can't recommend this machine enough! Seriously, go look at everything else, and then go look at the Speed Queen. It won't hurt to read the testimonials online, either. People are happy with this washing machine because it does what it should do ... clean clothes WELL.

Great kitchen! Now that I see the rest of the area, I don't think I would paint the walls in a color. You don't have a lot of wall space, and I think painting them would distract from the openness. If you MUST paint walls, I would do a very, very light grey and try to avoid a lot of contrast with the white. Instead of paint color, I would suggest you pick a great accessory color and do some things with that...like a substantial rug in a great color. Replace the clock. Get a teapot in a color...not stainless steel. I would remove the doors from the smaller upper cabinets (sink & stove) and use those spaces for cookbooks, pretty napkins in baskets, or other cute display items that go with the kitchen. Bring the color up and use it as part of the architecture. Just some ideas. Gayle

My opinion on Ruggable: my daughter bought one 18 mos ago (8x10/light gray). She has baby, toddler, dog and 2 messy, red wine spilling adults (lol) (oh, and sometimes messy me visiting). She has washed that rug countless times, both by spot cleaning and washing machine. It comes out great. I loved the idea of one myself but needed a 9x12 and at time they did not offer it. Now they do (you just have to check to see if your washer accommodates the size) & I bought a cream/white one. I LOVE it. Me and Messy Marvin here + 2 dogs and visiting grandkids, granddog, and messy adults have given my ruggable a workout. Spot cleaning for me has been a breeze-have not had to throw the entire thing in wash yet but I anticipate no problems based upon daughter's experience. (truly just about everything has been spilled, spewed, painted, chalked, thrown on these rugs and no problems washing clean, no staining). In case you are wondering about real life hard workout for this brand.
