My finished 'glamour vintage' bathroom
Comments (84)Thanks so much everyone. Sorry I wasn't able to respond to this sooner - I didn't realize anyone had posted on this recently. Yes, its the same cap molding used to frame out the niche. The pocket door is fine since this is off my bedroom but its a pain to lock. I think thats because I have an extra thick vintage door rather than a standard one. If this were a bathroom that was more "public" like a guest bath or off a hallway, I'd definitely be looking for a better lock than the cheapo one we found at Home Depot. I did use the basketweave in the shower as well. No issues at all with it being too slippery (I was concerned about that but its a non issue) I love the lighting in here. In addition to the side lights, I have overhead recessed lights as well a skylight. Its great for makeup application, eyebrow plucking, etc. My old bathroom had a single overhead light and now Im totally spoiled! Hope that helps. Thanks so much for your kind words!...See MoreFinished Art Deco/Modern Vintage bathroom pictures
Comments (17)Thank you for the EXACT details of how to order that exact configuration of drawers as a sink base. When I went to IKEA they showed me how to use their computer program (which I've played with at home, it's really fun)but no one said there were any options for cabinets other than those on display. I'm so ridiculously psyched about this! I can't wait to show my husband. Our bathroom reno was originally supposed to be major but once the quotes came in it got progressively tinier and we are now leaving the existing tile (but getting it professionally cleaned and regrouted), leaving the existing floor plan (but putting in a new bigger window to let more light and air in). Instead of a stone or quartz countertop we're using laminate or butcher block. Instead of custom cabs it's IKEA. Believe it or not, I think I'm gonna be just as happy with this more minor reno. Sometimes the problem with spending a ton of money on something is that it's a let down when you are not delighted with every single thing. Your bathroom just came out so beautifully! If ours looks half as good I'll be happy....See MoreMaster bathroom reveal - cottage/farmhouse/vintage style
Comments (11)I love the casual comfort of your space, recognizing all the planning it took to achieve that feel! The wainscotting, soapstone, and hex tile floor make that happen for me, as do all the personal touches like the picture shelves and your lovely barnyard art. I love the thoughtful touches like the med cab placement, the shower' s window, and the foot-rest shelf in the shower - which I may be stealing! And saving the chute, even though that meant re-routing it, is just another example of the care and you took to get it right. I have a possible solution to the hand towel dilemma. Remember how farm kitchens often have those three-fingered towel holders under the sink to hold kitchen towels as they dry? The ones where the three rods come out from a center hinge and can be rotated into any position from all lined up together when not in use to spread far apart so that towels on them can dry? Ginger makes them now in two-rod style in nice finishes for the bath. 16" long. It would really match your farmhouse feel. Where to place it is your problem, you are thinking. I say, put it on the wall just in front of the vanity. You often step away from a sink when done, so the towel will be handy. Rings bunch up the towel and it takes longer to dry. Either this Ginger 0322-16 or any straight towel bar in a 12" or 16" size works, height-wise. Because I am on my Kindle and lost an entire post yesterday by touching somewhere on the screen on accident, I am going to post now, then try to link to the Ginger bar in another post. PS: I love the the violet wall color!...See MoreVintage Blue Bathroom Upcycle
Comments (8)Remove the vanity, light fixture, towel bars/mirrors, and extraneous storage piece. Install fresh modern wallpaper that works with the green tile, so it feels intentional. Add a “large as possible” white vanity…you have the room. Move the plant on toilet to another room. Install a hotel towel rack above the toilet. Leave the window unadorned or hang a simple cafe curtain on bottom half if privacy is not an issue, otherwise install a cordless Roman shade. Clean and replace tub caulking. New fabric shower curtain/liner. New fixtures in either brushed nickel or satin brass. If possible, either paint the HVAC register the same shade of green or match it to the fixtures....See Morecaligirl5
