Bathroom reno configuration: shower placement HELP

Hi! I'm struggling with solutions for a small shower in a bathroom remodel. Below are the plans. As you can see, the sliding door will be tiny (in fact, not 22" per code). A swinging door will hit the vanity. I'm thinking the best solution may be to convert to a frameless neo-angle corner shower? We need to include all of the elements shown here, and layout is a challenge with the space and window. Any ideas/advice much appreciated!

Go with a bi-fold shower door. If you spend a bit of money it will be an attractive and convenient option to your current plan. Framed options are quite reasonable and look fine, frameless are a bit more and look a bit better, I know the framed perform well, not sure about frameless.

I am assuming that you can only make limited changes so I will not get into redesigning the layout. If that is something you are open to then I would post in the homebuilding forum for layout help.

ETA: They also make multiple panel sliding doors.

The only out of the box Idea I can muster right now regarding that door / w/d placement is a type of hanging rolling door used on barns up in snow country. Mount the support to the ceiling and let the door slide over in front of the w/d.

The inside of your shower door should stay inside your shower or opening the door after the shower will pour water on your floor. I know this gets ignored quite often but I would try to follow it.

I have always wanted to make the entire room waterproof and get rid of the shower door completely on a small bathroom. I would curb the toilet mounting up 1 inch. Same for sink penetrations if they were to be through the floor. Crazy but cool. That is gonna be a wet room with the laundry in there as well. Is there absolutely nowhere else the stacked units can go?

Thank you @trickyputt. Unfortunately, there is nowhere else to put the washer/dryer. It is a 2nd floor Victorian flat, and otherwise the laundry is in the basement, coin-op and shared with the building. :( We looked at putting it into a hall closet, but we would have to lose the only storage closet in the entire house 3 BR house. So, trying hard to make it work but it is eating up real estate!

Solar tube to bring in natural light rather than a window? I don't think there is anywhere else to put the shower that size with that size bathroom. You could also try a clerestory window above the shower/linen closet.

I would skip the marble on the floor and find a simple mosaic ( there probably is one to match the floor tile you have ) . Then do a large stripe or rectangle feature on the faucet wall of the shower with the pretty marble. Do the niche the same as the walls ( or since you are doing a pony wall, move the niche to there ). I would have the walls the same as the floor so you're not fighting whites. That tile is too pretty to be on a shower floor or in a niche behind shampoo bottles - feature it!

Think about how you and your family will move around the bathroom. With a 72" vanity, there will be around 34" of space between the vanity and the wall for the toilet and a trash can. While it's enough space to accommodate these items, it might feel a bit tight if you need to navigate around someone using the vanity. The 60" vanity would provide more clearance, allowing for easier movement within the bathroom.

I have put laundries in kitchens, but my personal favorite is in the bedroom or near the clothes closet. I am lazy that way. Older architecture often discounted closet storage or the latest indoor plumbing of the day but favored larger rooms from which I would steal space by throwing up a wall and creating a concealed utility area. You really have to get out of the box sometimes. You also have to deal with 4x4 studs and different wall construction, but you can go crazy in the attic running utility supply wherever you wish. Drainage is another matter, and if I could not tie into existing, I have gone right out the exterior wall. Wish I could be of more service,

This is alignment not currently on the plan, and would require a slightly larger shower toward the interior of the room to catch spray and drip off the bottom of the door. Also kinda cool in that custom glass door design kinda way. The door could easily slide into something of a channel, and would work as if it were a shower curtain rather than a perimeter sealed door unit..cr lawerence has many types of glass fittings. Some drilling of the glass might be required.

Shower curtain? For some reason, I am the only person alive that hates seeing the inside of a shower. It's always full of shampoo bottles and razors.

@bry911 Thank you! We hadn't explored the bi-fold doors. Definitely looking for something frameless to make the space feel open and airy. I re-posted this and tagged home building. This is our first draft of plans so we still have time to re-arrange if we need to.

You could make your shower bigger by using a neo-angle all the way to the edge of the vanity, and have a double-swinging (swings both in and out) door. That gives you an extra 2' of shower space!
