Exterior colors help wanted - shutters/garage door/balcony french door
Comments (20)Oly - Don't mind sharing at all... Its 3100 sq/ft, 4 br and 3.5 baths. The balcony area is off the bonus room and not the master. Here are some pictures from soon after we moved in so it looks a little bare but truth be told we are still trying to get the place properly decorated! Maggie - thank you very much... I was just trying to find out what company did the shutters so I could find the exact color but wasn't able to get that info. It was one of the color options from the shutter manufacturer so we didn't pick out the paint at home depot or whatever. I'll dig around some more and hopefully get the color name to you. We were looking for that french blue look and think we found just that so we were very pleased....See MoreExterior French Doors
Comments (15)If you look at the sill, you will easily see if the door is an in or out swing. On the left is an in swing, right is an out swing. Your sill may look a bit different, but an in swing door will close on top of the sill, were an out swing door will close against it. Hinges are another clue. Hinges on an out swing door will have a tab or pin as shown in the image below that fits into a hole when the door is closed keeping the hinge together even if the pin is removed. They may also have something that keeps the pin from being removed unless the door is open. The piece that covers the gap between the doors is called an astrigal, and on the out swing doors that I've installed, has gone on the exterior, but you need to look at the door manufacturers installation instructions to know about your door....See MoreExterior French Door Dilemma

Comments (14)@btydrvn thanks for your thoughts here - wrt the posts -- the dirt level will be higher than it is now --i.e. right now dirt slopes down to the house so there will be at least a little more dirt covering the posts. I hadn't though of covering the exposed cement at the base of the post though .. A raised deck is a possibility but I liked the idea of having a patio that was level and continuous with the rest of the yard.... in which case, I guess I live with having it look a bit unfinished with that cement showing? maybe some flower pots around? Other ideas?...See MoreUser
