Exterior colors help wanted - shutters/garage door/balcony french door
Comments (5)Hi Cindy, the brick is "Old Orleans" by Cherokee brick. Its a great looking brick with lots of character. The mortar was rubbed over the brick to achieve the aged look. I put the same post in the home decorating forum with a couple more up close pictures if you care to see any more of this brick....See MoreNeed help with window trim color, shutters, and garage door color
Comments (19)If you make the other changes as suggested, I don't think you'll feel the need to paint the brick. There's no sense creating a maintenance issue where there is none now. The house has the potential to be very handsome. Some pretty pots with flowers on either side of your door will add some color as well. Don't forget that nothing looks pretty this time of year when trees are bare and lawns are brown....See MoreHelp! Need color scheme for door, shutters garage
Comments (9)Be aware that most folks here despise decorative shutters that are too skinny for the Windows and refer to them as "shudders". It doesn't matter if your home was built with them. Consider adding wider trim to all of the windows. If budget allows, consider a portico for the entryway. Comments (6)Keep the garage door neutral like the foundation but add a garage pergola above it and grow a climbing vine to run on it where the pine gets removed. You can paint vinyl siding. Sherwin Williams has specialty paint for that. I would paint the dormer (and downspouts) to match the roof color, paint the shutters white, remove shutters from lower windows and paint their trim the same white as the shutters upstairs. Take care of the landscaping as mentioned above. Looks like you need to increase/upgrade outdoor lighting and beef up the weenie railing. Maybe a local iron worker could enhance it with some interesting trim. I would also consider a new look for the front door; probably a single glass storm if your climate requires it. Black would make for a nice front door and storm on your brick home....See Morejdlarsen1
