We did not go over that option, of removing part of the concrete and replacing the coping in that section. I wish I had thought to ask about that! It would be $9400 to do the following: 20mil liner replacement (21X 42 irregular shape)$2600 step replacement (involves drilling out concrete around steps) $3000 new flat coping to go under current coping $1800(would leave existing coping which is cracked there) 2 new skimmers $800 new liner pad underneath liner $200 labor $1000 I know the new coping would not match (in color) the new coping. I don't know if that is why the pool guy did not suggest just replacing one part of the coping. My guess is it would not be a big enough job for him, maybe not enough money in it? I wish I knew more about pool construction.

Looks great. Our pool is 25 years old so when we decided to resurface and tile the pool we considered all sorts of options for changing the shape and design. But in the end it would have run $$$$ instead of $$ so PebbleSheen and tile it is. Here's a couple pictures of the Aqua Blue after a day of chemicals (please excuse the dead grass from the pool company!), though the camera just can't do the true color justice. Different angle/time of day, different water color. The water probably needs a few more days of circulation for the end color to come through but I think it's probably pretty close. We really struggled with the Aqua Blue / Blue Granite decision.

Jamy, we get at least a big job a month removing and resealing from those big box store products. Our usual routine is pressure wash apply soy gel let sit, repeat 2 or 3 times reseal You may be able to find the soy gel(enviro friendly) if you have a concrete accessories store nearby that sells retail. If you want wet look, after removal, try a color enhancer product(not a big box store item) not a wet look sealer, then seal with a UV stable sealer. Most of the products we buy are not available to the public, but I believe the soy gel you can get at retail. Depends on why you are sealing as to what product to use,but buy at a concrete supplier not a big box. You may be able to get some on line as well, truck shipped of course. Here is one instance where you get what you pay for.....some of our sealers are over $100/gallon our cost. Hope this helps, Barb

love2weed- sounds like you are stressed and frustrated, and building a pool can certainly do that to you!! I wanted concrete like mkfmedic (that looks fantastic, by the way!!) but our builder wouldn't do it, telling me it would not look good around our pool. I had pictures of what I wanted - they had issues visualizing, and probably wanted to make more money . . .Now we have a cast stone product which is super because in 100 degree Texas heat, it is not the least bit hot. However, our contractor is gone and won't make the problems that remain right. What are we to do? We can't match the stuff without him. I say this to say to you - go with something easy and that you and your hubby can agree on. You probably don't want solid concrete around the pool or else any settling will cause you major problems down the road. If they put the saw-cut lines in, or lay the coping and decking with a division between, not only will it add design but will be sturdier. A lot can be done with concrete - pass it on to your other half. Simple is good :)
