Any alternative to Photobucket?

I used to post photos to websites like Craigslist by using Photobucket.

However, Photobucket has stopped allowing one to do this for free.

Does anyone know of an alternative to Photobucket that allows you to store your photos and even post them to other sites without charging you?

Just curious.

Why not just keep them on your PC?

I haven't used Craigslist in quite a while but the last time I used it, you just uploaded the images directly to them. I thought they had discontinued most HTML including the img tag.

apparently.. from the notification.. my date is the 17th of the month ... so we will see if we can squeak it out between now and then .... i suppose if i just dont post anything new for a week or so.. it should work ... man that is going to be withdrawal ... for me ... i love you guys.. but some of you seem to miss the point.. if i cant/wont buy a conifer for myself .. i aint spending the money to enable you all .... for the future.. i may take daves clue in his posts .. and go with one pic per post or one pic of each plant .. instead of the multiple pix of one plant ... i take my pix on the most ginormous camera setting for cropping purposes .... looking into PB's settings .. it appears i have it on the default/recommended size for uploading.. so perhaps if i move that smaller... the pic size will shrink ... using less width ... any comment on that idea??? i only have 224 pix in PB right now.. but that number is irrelevant ... its how many time you and i open the post and look at them .... and i am probably the worst.. since i open the post every time a reply comes in [probably dozens of time per day per post] ... its been hard to not open the posts repeatedly all day long to see what youse guys are commenting ... you do understand i have no other life.. lol ... who knows .. i slaughtered the larix ... but i dont want to open that post ... pix on that some other day ... oh well.. any other thoughts??? ... no pix in this post.. so i can open it any time.. lol ... ken

I use Irfanview as my default picture viewer on the computer. Easy to edit pics. I generally upload my daylily pics to Flikr and other pics to Shutterfly [I could do them all to one or another]. Both are free and reliable. Shutterfly puts the pics into albums and you can create photo albums that you can buy. Flickr beautifully displays the pics, which you can put into albums if you want. Flikr is my preferred. Brad

I'm not by nature a 'pet' person. But we brought it home. My husband at the time was an avid hunter. I thought he might have the courage to put her down as quickly and painlessly as possible. Mom, Yup, growing up with, and always having 'Susans', except the 11 years we lived here with a woefully inadequate kitchen (already I've forgotten what I used to have! :>), I just assumed I'd get two corner susans. Since I've had a few months to use this one while waiting for innards, I realize I actually have more space without the susan. Good for the 'Big' items I have in there now. Think I'll still keep the lazy susan I have in the other corner, though it really doesn't store much, but for small items, more convenient- haven't hit upon the perfect way to store things in there either- but it's a wire one, I might be happier with building super Susans with bigger diameter circles...like I have nothing better to do with my time and money... :>)

Mike is correct about Craigslist.

Many folks are looking for Photobucket alternatives since they disabled third-party hosting: Googling Any alternative to Photobucket(for the last month)

If you just have a few images Microsoft's free One Drive might suffice. They seem to provide you with direct URLs as well as embed code. I have a premium account "Office 365 Personal" so am not certain it works the same with the free accounts but I suspect it does.

I used to use Dropbox for their URL address associated with files in the Public folder. They stopped that, but technology has changed dramatically in 10 years. All the sites where I post pictures will upload directly from the computer.

I always wondered why anyone would use a photo storage website like Photobucket. Google Photos apparently offers some organization tools, but I still don't see the need for it.

My current phone has a 16 mp camera. My 2 tb hard drive cost $80 and will store 400,000 pictures. So for a cost of about $0.0002 per picture I can store more pictures than I am likely to take in my lifetime. And before my lifetime ends the cost will plummet further.

There's a few reasons for using one of the photo sharing sites. The OP asked about Craigslist and while I believe they have changed the rules, at one point Craigslist only allowed users to upload (to their servers) four, fairly small (~640x480) images. Depending on what you're selling, have more, higher resolution photos could be an advantage. The seller needed to know some basic HTML and have some way of hosting the photos. Certainly bigger sites, like GardenWeb, allow users to upload files directly to their servers but some smaller sites don't allow that in order to contain costs.

The other advantages of an online service is a means of backup, the ability to share photos, and access from just about anywhere.

Yes, tinypics, free and easy I keep the link on my favs, I post photos often all over and keep mine in a folders on my DT for fast retrieval.

I'm upset about Photobucket. I have so many photos stored there I'm not sure how to get them off without copying/past thousands of photos.

I do not want to clog up my computer with photos. It doesn't have a lot of space.

I liked Photobucket. It was easy to edit and post photos easily. Photos on my computer are mostly from my I phone which appear sideways and require me to change each one. A pain and time consuming. That doesn't happen in Photobucket.

Someone suggested Shutterfly as a free photo hosing site. I've never used it. I wish I could find a way to move all my photos in bulk to another site but Photobucket says you can copy/paste! Yikes

Jane, if I understand correctly, as long as you're just storing photos on Photobucket you're okay.

They just require you to download the image to your computer and then upload it to a site/forum if you decide to post an image to a 3rd-party site.

It's using embed code (or bbc code) that they're putting a stop to.

I think you only need be concerned if you get an email like this:

It's always best to send your photo's, slideshows or videos to flash drives then no one can take them away from you. I just checked all my flash drives against my PB library and I have all (over 600) so no need for me to worry about PB anymore. I will keep it but not use it for posting pics. online.

You can supposedly download entire albums. I had problems with my desktop machine so I used the Android tablet and it worked.

Open the album and look for the "Download album" link. I don't know if it will also download sub-albums because I didn't have any.

Any alternative to Photobucket?
