Some issues with a few of my own-roots
Comments (10)Thanks for the replies, will look into Bayer like you said. I have a few more pictures, ones that I was supposed to upload before but they weren't sending to my email at the time (I'm taking these from my phone) Star of the Nile: To think this plant was actually healthier when I first bought it from heirloom, and kept it in my porch for weeks until the spot was prepared. Was the first of my bands to bloom, beautiful bloom but it started to go downhill, as you can see in the second, more recent picture: in July: http://img831.imageshack.us/img831/2741/imag1589.jpg recently: http://img526.imageshack.us/img526/1860/imag2248w.jpg --- Louise Odier This is just another picture of her leaves, turning yellow. I'm trying to see if it's a deficiency in my soil, and want to know what I can do about it, maybe someone would know more than I do. It seems to have green veins but just yellow leaves: http://img684.imageshack.us/img684/2787/imag2271q.jpg --- Mary Magdalene Love the rose, hate what the sun does to the petals (literally bleaches it).. any ideas to preventing it? haha. Also, if you take a look at the bush it thined out, I'm hoping it's just a result of the blackspot and will bounce back after a few applications of Bayer (will buy this week) -- Thanks again for all the tips, you guys are the greatest...See MorePics of some of my new babies
Comments (9)Thanks all for responding: Erin, thanks for the great ID on the Senecio radicans, I'll get that labeled, kinda similar to the 'string of pearls' I guess you could say. I think they are cool too. Erin and Nancy, on #5 this Aloe develops differently than the usual Aloe Vera, I love the way it stacks on top of each other and the really sharp spikes. It was really left in the dark and not watered at HD, and I rescued it just in time. Nancy, would this be a kind of Aloe vera? there must be so many different kinds. Both of these are differnt from the Aloe vera that I already have. Even the 1st one has very thick fleshy leaves, slightly more than the common one and lighter in color and more white markings. Really great ID's PUGLVR on the Hoya DS -70 and the Hoya compacta. You are really right on about the Hoya DS-70, the website you provided shows the exact plant. I was really happy it was blooming. Do you have many Hoyas? I agree Penny with you on the curly leaves of the Hindu Rope, really neat, Thank You all for you time and information, have anything you'd like to share with me? Any of your Hoyas or Aloe's. Micki...See MoreVisited English gardens, now want to revise my own
Comments (3)LOL, Carol! Yes, the assistants are important, even if they're not so good looking. Do you have photos from your trip? Did you use a tour company, or go it alone? I've been dying to do an English garden tour, but it never seems to happen. On the other hand, when I come home from any trip, I seem to have photos of nothing but gardens! It's so interesting to visit botanic gardens and even small neighborhood parks in different countries - I tell myself that garden style is as important an aspect of a culture as the architecture and other arts, and I'd really (if secretly) rather visit gardens than museums. Back home ... I think you can try to control views, even without the acreage to create gorgeous views. Perimeter planting with 'appropriate' gaps is my goal, and this is also my worst problem - finding plants that will grow to, say 18 feet, to block the view of neighbors' houses, but not too much taller, to prevent claustrophobia. It's a real challenge to get the appropriate plants to grow around the perimeter, where there are problems like maples (serious shade and root competition), solid wood fences (which rob both rain and sun for smaller plants) and lack of my attention (who can remember to water and weed the unseen?). Please tell us more about your trip!...See MoreTook a break to have my baby :) now back to my backsplash
Comments (14)Well, I wonder if the colors are off on my camera. Because I definitely see what y'all mean about the beige tile looking a little pink in the picture. It doesn't read that way in real life though. So looking at this picture, would more of a gray be better or a beige. As you can see from an earlier picture the walls are a very light green and the lower paneling is a blue. I can play with the shade of the beige or gray once we choose which way to go....See Moretsugajunkie z5 SE WI ♱
