Can someone please help me?!?

Comments (7)Succulents need good drainage and good light/sunlight all the times, not only when you want to for them to bloom. I was wondering about the instructions, since I do not do anything different for them. They bloom when they want IMO. There are many instructions about holiday cacti for example - I never did what they say and they bloom regardless. I keep outside all succulents+other plants as long as possible. Some will bloom better if they spend some time there, but I would keep them outdoors regardless if I like them to bloom or not. On some, I sometimes cut the inflorescence off - most often haworthias. They get really long inflos, and blooms are quite insignificant. There are some plants that are monocarpic - blooming plant dies when finished. For example some kalanchoes, sempervivums (hardy succulents) and few more. I read that inflo could be cut off to 'save' the plant - I do not know if that works because I never tried. Those plants grow offsets anyway to replace themselves. I asked what you did with the beheaded plant - and you did great. This particular plant grow really well and easy, as you already found out! Not all of them do so well, and are bit more finicky. Some will not even propagate from leaves but from stem cuttings, and few only from the seeds....See MoreCan someone please help me with figuring out where to end backsplash?
Comments (22)I had the same issue with my kitchen, where to stop the backsplash. I was very concerned about the blank wall above the counter. Although, my concern is different than yours, these decisions are difficult. Then, without consulting me, the tile installer finished the job. It was a condo remodel in Naples, FL and I live in IL. It was during Covid and I had no way of being there. As it turned out, I’m happy with the way it turned out. I guess the installer is knowledgeable where to stop it. I would agree with the idea of not putting tile to the ceiling. Good luck....See MoreCan someone please help me with my cactus rubra
Comments (5)If I am not mistaken, the scientific name of this plant is Euphorbia trigona 'Rubra'. Euphorbias are not cacti, but a separate genus of aprox. 2000 species, with abt. half of them being succulents. They exude white, milky sap if broken-injured, that some ppl are very allergic to. There are some that are hardy, but not yours. But from what I read, it should survive temps close to 30*F. They are beautiful landscape or houseplants, and yours looks extremely nice/mature. It would be sad for it not to survive. They take a while to establish, so hope that is the reason for it being 'sad'. I would have probably waited with repotting until it gets acclimated, unless there was a real problem. Was the existing pot really small? Or any other reason you repotted immediately? Best time to repot most plants is at the begining of the growing season. Typically, it is best to wait with watering for a while (5-10 days) after repotting. They need good drainage. What kind of sand did you use in the mix? Fine sand isn't probably very good to use, but sharp sand (grittier) would be ok. Often sold as horticultural sand. Or use builders sand which is also grittier. Many of us don't use any sand in a mix for succulents, but some do & it is often recomended on various sites......See MoreKara 9b SF Bay Area CA
