Question: Carrots planted with allium 'globemaster'?
Comments (2)Please don't be offended but you might want to ask about this over on the Companion Planting forum here. Claims such as this are part of their philosophy but not subscribed to by all. Personally I have never found it to be of any real benefit but assuming it is the odor that supposedly repel the flies then I would think the decorative alliums would be just as effective. Comments (2)Just rinse the plants/traps off, it shouldn't be a big deal. Acclimate the plant a little bit every day to full Sun. It'll be fine....See MoreB'Fly Egg Question, Kat-Marcia?
Comments (10)Cindee, your hands are pristine and soft and white compared to mine! Mine have so much dirt ground into the dry areas that I'll never get it out. I try to wear gloves, but somehow, they always come off at some point, and from then on, it's dirt and grime all the way. Now for your pics...the yellow eggs look really large for butterfly eggs, so I'm not sure WHAT might be going on there. The little white ones look exactly right. They are probably from your skippers. Since I see no one or no thing menacing your pea vine, I reckon your guard frog is doing a good job! And I like the smell of marigolds, too, though I don't often plant them. They have such an herbal quality to them. Especially lemon desert, or what we call Stinky Marigold. The one that gets about 3 feet high and wide, with tiny yellow flowers and an ENORMOUS fragrance (or some would say, ODOR). I love it! Keep us posted on the egg situation! Comments (20)Thanks for all of the info and great tips!!! Sheila, I had known about the shoes thing but forgot - thanks for the reminder, and for the tape tips. Goodness Linda, that's *exactly* what I'm trying to avoid, you poor thing I can only imagine how embarrassed you were - I was at the dollar store this evening buying the ziplocs chanting "quart sized, NOT gallon" just to make sure, lol. Gazania and OK, thanks for the smiles :-)Things here have been interesting but tolerable. I'm taking steps though, towards a better future. House is back on the market, as soon as it sells I can make those big decisions and some further steps towards independence :-) Thanks to everyone else for all of the rest of the tips - ya'll made some good points I hadn't thought about. I think I'll pack my (powder) makeup in the carry on and put the rest (mascara, perfume, shampoos, etc) into the checked bag. I have a fairly small carry on that should fit right under the seat, but that was a great idea about being among the first on if I can help it - I think I'll do that anyway. Since my carry on is so small, I'll need to check my luggage, but thankfully it's a straight flight with no layovers. Another great idea about the meds - I probably would have packed them into the checked luggage since I have sooo many different bottles, but I'll rearrange the packing and keep them in my purse. Thanks for the well-wishes too :-) I'm going to visit a dear friend that I used to work with - she and her family moved away several years ago but we've kept in touch. We've been each others' cheerleaders along the way, and she knows how badly I've needed a hug. It'll be nice to let them be my Calgon and "take me away from it all" for a weekend :-)...See More- 6 years ago
