How long do I need to isolate new plants?
Comments (12)LOL No, not Martin. But today I'm calling him 'Pelt'! Grrrr. He dug up bulbs outside and knocked over new plants inside. Okay. Back to the thread. I've got my new plants all in individual ziplock bags, and all the leaves that came in are in a moist perlite/vermiculite mixture on trays and also in bags. So how do you keep those little 3oz. Solo cups upright and in a baggie? Mine keep falling over. Right now I have them all bumped up next to each other in a round plant tray, but they're still fairly precariously balanced. Any ideas? Or is it just me? Didn't someone post that he *hangs* the baggies from the shelving unit? Feegle...See MoreHow funny is this?...hosta sign language!
Comments (10)Yeah, the Victory splays out the scapes like that, and I had to take steps to control them. I mean, they are blocking my pathways. Can you see in this picture where I used part of a bamboo pole and a hair clip (like they use to hold up orchid sprays) to control the extra long scapes? I wonder if the originator (Solberg?) named it Victory because of the "V" shape. And earlier on, when the scapes were beginning to get long, I worried about breaking them off as I walked by. Hence Victory had to be moved to the new spot under the RED umbrella....See MoreMartian Rose Bouquet
Comments (3)kentucky - exactly. It's not beautiful but I think it's interesting and whimsical. I would have preferred a longer stem pink rose instead of the red but when I cut today, didn't have one. My wife didn't arrange this one. I was just having some fun and when she got home she wasn't exactly swept off her feet by it and had some "constructive" comments. It's good for a conversation and I still like it. Prettypetals - no, this is known as Golden Drumsticks or Billy Buttons (Craspedia Globosa). I grew them from seeds last year. This is the first year they've produced and they've been fun to watch and they can add interest to arrangements. Here's where I got them if you're interested: http://www.outsidepride.com/seed/flower-seed/craspedia-globosa.html I have another weird thing or two that maybe I'll work into arrangements next year....See MoreWhich sitcom would you live in?
Comments (37)Elizabeth, perhaps no one thinks of Outlander as a sitcom. :-) Northern Exposure--good choice, Wildchild. It has its similarities to Gilmore Girls . . . that sense of community, with some oddball characters. It was a great show. And yes, Mayberry. If I lived there I'd spend all my time sitting on the porch singing with Andy. And waiting for Aunt Bea to announce supper....See MoreMarie Tran
