Garage lights - placement

I finally got my house painted and next up is having my new light fixtures installed. My question for you today is placement of the garage door fixtures (where there have never been lights before).

Here's the fixture, 12 inches high

This is my freshly painted house + garage. Lights will go on either side of the door, not above. Yes, I kept the garage door white. There's no way I can disguise the fact that it's a prominent garage, so I'm embracing it.

The placement photos are pre-paint with lights Photoshopped in fairly accurate to scale. Because the image of the light above is at an angle I did two versions of each position to see the mounting base in place and then the shade.

#1 - base level with the garage door header trim

To show where shade would actually be seen (base would line up vertically)

#2 - base one board higher than door header trim

To show where shade would actually be seen (base would line up vertically)

Edited to correct last photo.
