Taken by my sister while we were on a day hike with a mutual friend:

Some patty pan squash that I need to figure out how to prepare.

murraysmom......those are pretty funny looking squash ....:0) Let me know what you decide to do with them ....

murraysmom, my mother used to parboil them just long enough to soften them up a bit. Then she would cut them in half, scoop out the squash meat and mix it with ground beef or pork, chopped mushroom, onions, bread cubes like the ones used in stuffing, a little garlic powder and salt and pepper. She'd then fill the shells with the mixture and bake (I'm guessing around 350) until cooked all the way through and kind of toasted on the top. They were delicious!

My favorite squash. They are great when sliced, breaded and fried.

What do these taste like? Summer squash? Or less watery?

Regarding patty pan squash, I just cut them up, steam them and serve them with butter and S&P. I think they are less watery.
