Blooming on Thursday in the Southern Tier of NY

It is always exciting to go outside to see what is blooming today. The new ones keep coming on.

RIVER WIND - Did not get to see it last year as the deer nibbled on it. The deer got it again this year but left a couple of buds. This is a big flower and has a tendency to poly.

LONG TALL SALLY - I measured it and it was 13 inches.

KANSAS KITTEN

GEORGE JETS ON

ETERNAL CHARM (Bennett intro) Taken early in the am. It was fully open when I came home from work

PINK STRIPES: FFO form needs some work, but an unusual pattern

ROCK SOLID - Fantastic plant

SEEDLING IN THE PM - I missed it this morning. I would like the color to be a bit stronger and the sepals wider, but there is a lot going on with it (the edge and a bicolor/bitone)

I like your seedling, ruffles and a soft color. Kansas Kitten and George Jets On are nice. Honestly I don't care for Pink Stripes. Sorry the deer got most of River Wind it's really nice.

Nice pictures. Your seedling is lovely. I love the bicolors and the soft colors of yours is a bit different from the usual ones. Pink Stripes is a wacky thing. I think we need to get this one even if it is a dip. (We grow mostly tets.) The effect of River Wind when it is a polytepal is neat.

Julia, Considering that I do not have it in a great area (that will change in the fall), it has increased at a moderate rate. It really only gets four hours of sunlight and the bud count is around ten. As I have observed other plants, when moved to a better location, I am greatly rewarded by their much improved performance. It still hits is registration height, even though the conditions are not ideal. David

I think you've done your homework on this lot. I like Ladies Night Out. Nice full form with a thin white edge. I see it's from Richard Norris, along with Ashwood Dark Side and Mary's Baby. Good hybridizer......Frosted Vintage Ruffles is very nice too, along with Picotee Dream. I think between the two I like FVR the best because it's got a more interesting texture to the petals. ....What a nice selection of daylilies. ........Maryl

Carnival in Mexico catches my eye often, interested to know if they do bloom in a cluster at the top. Although I guess if Julia hasn't noticed an obvious problem, I wouldn't either. I have one seedling that has over 6" heavily ruffled blooms & lots of them. It opens despite the ruffles but sometimes the buds squish the blooms so you don't get a nice effect. Take My Breath Away is a really ruffley one. I've tried Hush Little Baby 3 times before & it died each time. Last fall I got another one & this one almost seems like a different plant, it looks so much more vigorous & better blooming than any of the plants I've had before. Maybe I just found the right spot, I love that color.

Best deer repellent - Bobbex. Spray as soon as buds start to extend.

PINK STRIPES is so different from anything I've seen.GEORGE JETS ON always appears from posts to take a nice photo. Nice group.

I am glad the deer saved you a few buds on River Wind. I like the look of it. I really like Kansas Kitten. I have been thinking about adding that one. Other favorites include Rock Solid and Pink Stripes.

Bill Waldrop converted Pink Stripes so a tet version is out there .since 2013 ..pretty pricey though
