Kitchen Design.. Fridge Placement

The house is framed and getting ready to draw out kitchen cabinets. Now I have a concern about the current fridge location. I'm afraid that with where it is the left door will only be able to open about 90 degrees and inhibit normal fridge usage. Anyone have thoughts on this? The other option would be to move it to the same wall of the pantry with the other cabinets. Thoughts?

Your designer should have taken that need into account, as by allowing for a spacer between fridge and wall. Otherwise you can put a narrow pantry cabinet there. This is, as they say, a solved problem.

This layout would improve from being posted on the kitchen forum with a layout of the whole floor with more measurements. Plenty of good feedback for this question. It'd be nice if it was larger when clicked on.

I'd recess it into the pantry space as part of that short counter so you get a flush front without going counter depth. CD still sticks out 3-6 inches with the handles anyway. Single bowl sink could be offset from back to back with the cooktop, for which I'd suggest induction. When you figure aisle space the counters stick out past the cabs by 1" to 1-1/2" for each side. The lighting plan has no task lighting over the work areas.

Drawings or pictures would really help. There are lots of ideas in everyone's heads, I'm sure, but we need to see the rest of it. Off the top of my head, I'm thinking you could make that entire wall a "wall of tall". Meaning that you can put the fridge in the middle, wall oven/micro (if using those) in a stack to one side, and a pantry on the other side. But that would require you to have an island or other substantial landing space nearby.

Your island can and should shift down more to the breakfast nook area. Trying to make it symmetrical to the back wall is damaging the functionality of the space. With the wider aisle to the bottom of the island, there is no issue with the island impacting the fridge. However, you will need at least a 9" broom closet or pullout filler between the fridge and the side wall to allow the doors to open enough to pull out the baskets for cleaning. I'd also consider doing a focal point range rather than cooktop and wall ovens. That will give you 30" of additional counter space.

Option #2. I wouldn't want big boxes blocking my view out or the light coming in. You might consider open shelves instead of wall cabinets between the windows to further unblock the view and light. -- amateur

I wouldn't move the refrigerator any further away. You already have pretty good counter space. Are the two large sinks a must have for you? If you do decide to move the frig, in my experience 42" is an adequate walkway dimension. Are you going to routinely have six people at the table? The dimension that looks tight to me is from the head of the table chair to the wall, but I can't tell how much space there actually is between the edge of the table and the wall. Because it's a traffic pattern make sure there will be enough room for someone to get by when someone else is seated there.

Here is the entire floor. I thought this was posted in the kitchen forum as well when I clicked the kitchen box. The aisles are 4 feet wide around the island. What do you mean no task lighting?
