Concrete reinforcing wire. 6' tall, 6" squares, comes in 50' ($60) and 100' ($110) rolls. You may need a pair of 15-18" bolt cutters and a pair of line man pliers or similar.

Decide on the diameter of the cage, multiply by 3 and start cutting. I remove a bottom row of fencing making legs, I push those legs into the soil.

Edit: this is a cage, but instead of purchasing a cage, it is DIY. Concrete reinforcing wire looks like wire fence. It is heavy weight, and the 6" squares allow access, e.g., it can be difficult to pick a 4" diameter tomato from inside a 2"x3" wire fencing cage. I like ~15" diameter, 8' of length.

I've never used this method (I use cages also) but my neighbor did for years and must have had 80 plants out and they always did quite well.

Throwing another idea out there that is working very well for me this year.

Stake a cage. Could be done for $2 like they say in the link but I opted for 6 ft T-posts instead of lumber which will last forever. My costs are somewhere around $6 to $7 per.

I am using those for my indeterminates and a modified florida weave (Its more like a "box" weave where I just have stakes all around and just run the string from random directions depending on where the growth needs it) for my determinates this year.

Both supports are working well for me.

You can look up tomato spirals. I got mine from Lee Valley Garden Tools (online and catalog).

When I lived in San Francisco, I did a similar thing to the "Florida Weave" by using those slender green plastic-covered metal stakes and heavy string, building sort of modified "cages" with string to contain the plants and then clipped heavy stems to the stakes using some clips I got at Daiso (Japanese dollar store). We don't have Daiso on the east coast and I'm hoarding my supply but it looks like where you are you can find a Daiso. These clips are really great because the clip end is small and rounded, to clip strongly to the stake, and has a bigger space for the plant stem. It's like vertebrae, with space for the sciatic nerve. Actually there are good small stake options at Daiso too (more houseplant sized), but I got my tall ones from Sloat.

Here (DC area), my tomatoes are already bigger and taller but this method is still working for my container-grown tomatoes (we have deer and I'm working on fence options). I'm just using 6-foot stakes and mason line instead of 4-foot stakes and string. :) This is my first year back in DC after a decade in CA so I'm still working it out.

I am having great luck this year with my first try at pruning indeterminate tomatoes and cucumbers to a single stem and supporting them each with a string hanging down from a wire support running 6' above across the length of the bed. (Note that this pruning technique doesn't work for determinate varieties.)
