Where can I get some starter violets to replace all of the ones I lost because of health problems? I am new to this Thanks. Barb

You can buy AVs at your local Lowe's. You can also buy online. I bought from various sellers on Ebay and from violetbarn.com. Both worked out just fine.

Thanks so much, Julie fo your help. Still have to have shots every 2 weeks through August then see the doctor. Appreciate your thoughts. I am not worried. I've put it on the shelf for the Lord to take care of. Barb

Remove that carpet from the ledge that is just silly. I would look for an amazing contemporary wallpaper for above the trim and a coordinating color of paint for the bottom. When you have the money change those spindles to something much simpler if you like contemporary.I love a touch of metallic. Remove the carpet from the stairs and paint the spindles white, A nice sized round table with gold legs and glass top with a fab lamp with a gold lined shade in either white or black depending on the wall paper and a vase for fresh flowers when you entertain or just for everyday.

There is not anything particularly disturbing or "wrong" about its location. It's far enough from the house that it's not going to be harmful to it. If you like a shady yard, you'll have it. Even though in the future it will rob your perennials of the light they need, that is the nature of gardening and the constantly changing, albeit slowly and thank goodness, conditions. You give something up but you get something in exchange. Shade necessitates groundcover instead of lawn when it becomes pronounced. No big deal. Slope necessitates groundcover, too, so you might end up killing two birds with one stone. If you decide you don't want that kind of a yard in the future, you could move the tree as it is not that big. But moving it requires some skill. You still want to keep a solid root ball. (It would be hard to explain in words, without using an awful lot of them, how to do it.) Best if it is done when the tree is completely dormant as it gives you a better chance. You also might want to trim back all the branches to half their size in order to increase your chances of success. Everything will regrow after it is situated.

Well, you can pot anything together but you'll soon learn that some will overwhelm the others and that while one may thrive, another will not. Go ahead and leave everything as is for now ... They will tell you when it's time to move it to its own pot. When potting multiple plants, you'd have to ensure everything in that pot has the same water, light, and fertilizer needs. Otherwise, some will thrive and others will not. Your safest bet is to stay in the same family. You'd also have to identify the varieties that don't grow too large or have extensive root systems. Succulents with large root systems should remain separate. They will overwhelm or choke off the roots of smaller succulents. A good group of succulents to consider are 'Chicks and Hens' ... These are smaller and wont overcrowd each other. Plus they come in a very nice variety.

Jack's Violets on ebay periodically sells his starts at significant discounts.

CCV Violetry on ebay also supplies highly discounted starter plants.

I have successfully grown full-grown plants from any and all of these vendors.

If you're still looking for starter plants come Fall, I should have some that I can send ... just for you.

I grew Pearl Lake, it was such a nice plant. I lost it during the 9-months-pregnant-with-thrips-on-200-plants purge of 2013. Barb, message me if you would like some leaves for the cost of shipping. Also, email Cape Cod Violets and ask for the new catalog. They have very good prices on supplies.

Barb, I can also send you leaves in fall. I bought about 100 starters in the last couple of months, by fall I will have leaves to give away. Give me a message when the weather cool down.
